Bush tells the press he is "hanging loose" today.
Someone asked what he had planned for the rest of the day and he sighed like, "oh god, I need to make it sound like I'm busy, come up with something good, George!" And he said "ooh, I'm going to talk to the CIA on the phone, you know, find out what's going on in the world..." He might go for a bike ride, he might not...

Fucking loser! How many Americans get to spend a day like this, let alone 5 weeks.

14. Thanks! It's my filly's stallion, Coromino!

He's an Oldenburg which is a German warm blood breed suited to driving, dressage and jumping. Here's his 2 year old daughter (my filly), Cotton (she's on the right with the white socks):

edit: How are thing going over in England? I read the online BBC and Guardian news every day. I hope to visit there again soon. We have a lot of DUers in the UK which is very cool! I love to watch Prime Minister's Questions on Sunday evenings on CSPAN. Bush could never, ever handle that kind of rapid fire question and answer session!

17. Aw, they're GORGEOUS
White socks :) I've always had a GREAT appreciation of horses, unfortunately I don't know anything in depth about them, I just tend to admire them in my own way. So, you take part in dressage and show jumping then?

Report from over in England: Well, the PM Blair has completely gone AWOL. The London Police are under fire for killing an innocent man at Stockwell Tube Station. Gas is at $6.40 a gallon. It's been rather warm and sunny, but is now raining.

The BBC and the Guardian are very good news sources, if you like the Guardian, then you should check out The Independent newspaper:

http://www.independent.co.uk/

PM's Question Time, I'd LOVE to see Junior put under that sort of pressure. He'd probably have a total breakdown.

Yeah, I've become aquainted with a number of the UK DUers, they're all pretty fab. Oh and you'd be VERY welcome returning to Britain ;)

My Mother was born in Thibodaux, La. Which is why I have the Louisiana State flag where I do. I feel European by and large though, even though I'm dual.

18. $6.40 pr gallon for gas! WOW! At least you get universal health care,
Edited on Tue Aug-23-05 03:36 PM by CottonBear
excellent public transportation and good schools for your money.

We just keep getting screwed by the Bu$h, the Republicans, the oil and gas companies and the military/defense contractors. :(

Some poor gas station owner got run over and killed by an irate customer the other day in Alabama (I think). The customer was upset at having to pay $2.60 per gallon +/-. We would have complete and total civil war and anarchy if gas was $6.40 gallon and we still didn't have universal health care, public transit and good schools and free college educations. :scared:

BTW, Blair is hiding out in Barbados. :hide:

I read the Independent too! Thanks for the link. It's pretty sad that I have to read online newspapers from other countries in order to find out what's really happening here. :(

Guess what? Mr. CottonBear is a native of New Orleans, LA!
Laissez Le Bon Temps Roulet! :) :) :)
My great grandmother and great aunt and uncle lived there too!

You are so lucky to have dual citizenship! I'm jealous! Hopefully we'll make it over there in the next year. I like traveling in the early fall. There are not so many tourists and the weather is good! Mr. CottonBear has not been to England and he really wants to visit soon! :D

Cheers! CB :hi:

10. The war president, right there
Disgusting.

How can people contend that we are at war, and yet have no problem with the President taking five weeks of vacation and doing absolutely nothing?

15. Transcript is up
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/08/20050823.html

We've got somebody from Fox here, somebody told me?

Q Yes, Mr. President, thank you.

THE PRESIDENT: There you are, kind of blending in.

Q Sorry about that. Does the administration's goal -- I'll ask you about the Iraqi constitution. You said you're confident that it will honor the rights of women.

THE PRESIDENT: Yes.

Q If it's rooted in Islam, as it seems it will be, is that still -- is there still the possibility of honoring the rights of women?

THE PRESIDENT: I talked to Condi, and there is not -- as I understand it, the way the constitution is written is that women have got rights, inherent rights recognized in the constitution, and that the constitution talks about not "the religion," but "a religion." Twenty-five percent of the assembly is going to be women, which is a -- is embedded in the constitution.

Okay. It's been a pleasure.

Q What else are you going to do? Are you going to be bike today?

THE PRESIDENT: I may bike today. I've been on the phone all morning. I spent a little time with the CIA man this morning, catching up on the events of the world. And as I said, I talked to Condi a couple of times. Tonight I'm going to be dining with the Governor and the delegation from Idaho, spend a little quality time with the First Lady here in this beautiful part of the world. I may go for a bike ride.

Q Any fishing?

THE PRESIDENT: I don't know yet. I haven't made up my mind yet. I'm kind of hanging loose, as they say. (Laughter.)

All right, I've got to go. Thank you.
