Thank You Pat Robertson for Saving Chavez's Life
Inadvertently, Pat Robertson has foiled any U.S. assassination attempt of Chavez. By making such a ridiculous statement, the world has been alerted to a possible attempt on Chavez's life.

If Chavez were to be killed, then the world, in particular China, would demand answers from the U.S., and that could tip off a long, ugly international row.

4. This occurred to me earlier as well.
I doubt Robertson intended it, but any covert U.S. effort to bag Chavez now is out in the open.

Unless they are seriously trying to open the debate on whether assassinations should be made legal again.

And honestly, if torture's okay, then why not political killing?

5. I hope you are right, but where is the law
coming to take him away for inciting hate speech? Weren't his comments unlawful? Where does one go for such information? I thought about the DA's office here, the FBI office? Seems so weird that there would be no repercussions for such speech. I am just amazed. My mouth is falling open.

9. Wonder if Venezuala has a law that they could indict him under
and demand his extradition?

Bet he'd much rather spend time in a US prison...

11. that's an interesting thought
but I think too dangerous. Our country needs to reign in these hate mongers. Where is Eliot Sptizer? Actually our DOJ should investigate him. Also the IRS.

6. The Venezuelans must be vigilant.
They must have revolutionary leadership at the ready in case of all contingencies. In the event of US aggression or a fascist coup, the people must be prepared to launch a popular war to save the gains of the revolution.

14. Best impression of Cold War era movie "bad guy" EVAH.
Congratulations. It's a shame you can't transmit a fake accent, a moustache, or military music sung in Russian in the background through a DU post.

But you could do a video.

16. And yet, I do it effortlessly.
I see how what I said could be hunorous, but it is in fact serious as well.

7. I'll probably get flamed for this...
but I am amazed that nobody has made an attempt on Robertson; He seems to enjoy pissing off dangerous people.

12. I wonder if it has occurred to Robertson how easy it would be
for Chavez to "take him out" if he so desired. He would be dead by the end of the day. Fortunately, Chavez would not advocate something that stupid. Currently, he's more concerned with his own people. (By the way, Pat, the Venezuelan economy rose 14% this year. That is hardly devastation. Also, gasoline cost 12 cents a gallon.)

8. We said the same about Patrice Lumbumba - and the CIA still killed him
Indeed, when it was in the media that the "rebels" had surrendered him to USA control I was very happy - and then we found out that the CIA station chief that had been ordered to kill him a year or so before had him - and then we found out he was dead -

Followed by denial that we ever had him in our control

Followed a long time later by the CIA station chief saying he did not kill him (which leaves a lot of room for ordering his death).

I do not believe Pat Robertson has changed Chavez's CIA status.
