Should Democrats boycott MSM?
After watching Coleen Rawley on Hardball (DU link), I think any Democrat who goes on one of these shows is wasting their time. MSM is bought and paid for by the Republican Party and exists only as a propaganda tool. Why participate and legitimize this crap.

Why don't we (the DU) and other such web sites offer these candidates a forum where they can discus the issues in a civil environment. I'm tired of watching my Party get flogged by the "neutral" host and then, when the whip fails to draw blood, turned over to some goon who won't shut up.

Does anyone think this kind of exposure is good for the Party?

1. Of course it is.
How many people would see a post by Rawley at DU? 50,000, maybe? Maybe a few hundred thousand, after it gets passed around the Web? And all of them likely Democratic voters anyway?

Now, how many people see her on CNN? A few million, and many of them not GOP or Dem voters -- the people that have to be reached.

Politicians need the mainstream media. Period. It's the only thing that allows axxess to that many people in that short a time.

2. Been boycotting them for some time now
The last to go was NPR last Oct., when one of their political reporters (Juan Williams) did his FAUX style story on how Kerry was sure to lose the election. I was already teed off at them for ther Cokie Cheerleader Roberts Monday Morning Bush Fest and firing Bob Edwards. I catch some of them now, when I am in public and they are foisted onto me. But even then I do my best to block them out.

I try not to watch, but once in a while I check them out just to strengthen my resolve. It's getting worse and when I see them gang up on a real patriot like Rawley I'm ready to #*###**!

5. I also think this is a good idea......
There is no drama unless there is conflict. If no left wing spokesman is put up as a punching bag, all they have is themselves talking shit. That is BOOOORRRRing.

Even when the left wing person wins the shouting match, the host always has the last word and editorial comment.

They can and do slant interviews toward the right. Screw them, there are other shows where we can get our message across.

I say boycott.

6. I already have. I subscibe to no papers or magazines. No cable TV
Have gone to 2 movies in the last 4 years (Chicago and last Star Wars).
Rabbit ears pull in PBS and a few networks - I watch Seinfeld reruns and maybe another hour per day.

When I quit 7 years ago my family said I couldn't do it. Frankly there was no will power involved. Once all the football astroturf and steroid related injuries sickened me - it was all history.

8. Absolutely. The MSM talking heads shows are useless to us.
Worse than useless, they are counterproductive. They pick which DINO goes on to represent us: Breaux, Biden, Lieberman, whoever. The Democrats always come out looking weak and without any kind of serious alternative to the Repugs.

They also let the Repugs lie without correction or at least a demand for source information. They are allowed to ramble on incessantly giving their propaganda talking points for the day, even if it is not relevant to the question at hand.

The Democratic party and all its members should boycott every one of these shows and denounce them as Republican propaganda venues. Democratic voters should turn them off.

That would be a good starting point to debunking the "liberal media" big lie.

10. Good point. It's hard to hang the liberal label on a one sided debate.
I think people are underestimating the power of the net. The Democrats did the same thing with radio.
