A wee bittie food for thought |
|
Today is the 700th anniversary of the martyrdom of William Wallace, and a symbolic funeral service was performed in his honor at London's Smithfield market, where he was killed.
A middle-aged Scotswoman, who came to lay a tribute at the memorial plaque fixed to a wing of nearby St Barts hospital, said something that seems worth thinking about:
'It is important to honour a man who fought for his beliefs, who {didn't end his days} an old man lying in his bed wishing about what he should have done.'
