Gawd I Just Hate The Freeptards. FUCK I Hate Them!
My sister is visiting from CA and she just brought up our freeper cousin a Ray-Gun Bush loving shit dust bag. I said hey you do not want to go there, I was cool, for just a bit....then she said something so fucking stupid I wanted to kick her ass out of my house...she said I would like you and FREEPER shit( my words) to debate about your views on Bush etc.

I asked why? And why would I even deign to debate with an asshole? Why would she even think we were in the same league? Of course she was channeling her own beliefs through our cousin. I was just furious. Ray and I spent $1400 for her to come here even though we think she is whacked. We were trying to be nice and let her travel. But she thinks my debating a Bush Lovin fucktard is appropriate.

These people have no class. These people have no shame. They are all INSANE.

I have a son going to Iraq in two weeks. I told her to ask our freeper cousin to send her son. Let Ben stay here and send her 13 year old son go instead. I mean she loves Bush* right I hate the fucker let her kid go. The line kind of went dead there.

But my sister still does not get it. Yeah OK Bush is bad but war is good. Freeper cousin insane. Oh Gawd how did I come from these assholes? I hate them all and my boy is going to the Killing Fields.

Is it just me but have families just fucking abandoned ship? Are the brown shirts winning?

1. Hang in there, Binka.
This is a really tough time for you and I feel for you. I don't have any freep relatives, so I can't relate, but I know as a mom, that you are very worried about Ben. You and your family are in my prayers.

3. Exactly the same phenomena as with the Brownshirts.
Massive government/corporate proaganda and a lot of gullible people that want to blame problems on somebody else. Some Germans did not wake up until Berlin was in ruins. Some Americans would not wake up until Chimp starts the second Depression and WWIII.

4. Considering you son...
... her words are amazingly insensitive. My thoughts are with you & your family. My son is 19, and said he will have to be drafted. Kinda scary though.

I get that all the time in Texas (Rural West Texas). When people find out my political views everybody wants to debate like it is some kind of board game. I feel very strong about my views and struggle with not hating them for theirs. But it is difficult when they view political debate as a parlor game.

5. you're not alone
in being ostracized from your family. I mean, my god, how did we come from the same loins, much less the same upbringing? Have they all taken leave of their senses, or what?

Tell your son to run like hell. Get hurt. Become a CO something, anything. I'm so sorry your son is having to go over there for this cr@p. I can't even begin to imagine your pain. Bad enough if one drinks the koolaid, but to be totally opposed to bushco and everything they stand for? again, I'm sorry. There's nothing else I can do but

6. You are not alone
I have a sister in the Air Force who is "gung-ho" for her "Commander in Chief." I haven't seen her and her husband (also AF and pro-*) for the past two years and frankly, I'm glad. The last time the entire family was together, whenever anyone would say something even SLIGHTLY anti-Chimp, she'd get testy and say, "Hey, watch it -- you're talking about my Commander in Chief." The rest of my family is liberal and I think we're all glad to just go our separate ways until this nightmare administration is history because there just doesn't seem to be any middle ground as long as That Ass is on the throne.

15. OH RV Thanks For Asking I Am Fucked Up.
My relationship is already in trouble. We are on thin ice and Ben hasn't even gone yet. He is not Ben's father and he thinks I am over the top. Whatever that is!! Over the top? I am sick to death that my son might be coming home in a box. But I am over the top? Valley of tears.

9. Binka, my Ex husband has trained our son since he
was a little kid to be in the military and we are on the opposite sides of the fence politically. I want to put a stop to the war, because I don't see any way to end it amicably. My Ex is waiting for a General's slot to open, so that tells you all you need to know about him. It is so hard to listen to it.... It's like they are numb to what could happen at any point and time anywhere in Baghdad...

12. Look to history
This may not help how you feel, but what is going on right now has strong precedents. In the Vietnam era, back when families actually ate at something called 'dinnertime' or 'supper' around a table, all together, there were families across America that suffered this same sort of divide. WW2 era Dads who believed in the gubmint, because, after all, THEIR war was just, and young long haired kids waiting to be drafted with a completely opposite point of view. Mothers who wrung their hands, siblings who chimed in and made life even more contentious...

I imagine the same sort of scenario was played out during the Civil War, as well.

You have a choice to make, really. Do you stipulate that any contact with those folks NOT involve political discussions, and hold them to it; or do you cut off relations entirely?

If I were you, I would opt for the former--your point of view IS the correct one, history will bear you out, and they will one day admit that they made an error in judgment (they never say they are WRONG, they say they were duped, fooled, or weren't given the full information).

Tell your son to keep his head down, wear his armor anytime he is in an exposed position, no matter how hot it is, and don't ever skip the helmet. It will be getting cooler, but maybe he might want to bring one of those Sharper Image doodads that you put batteries and water in, and it works like a necklace swamp cooler. Also, make sure he has an email address so that you can communicate quickly, and he can send you lists of stuff he wants in Care Pkgs (what you need depends to some extent on where you are).

I realize you are ballistic over your Freeper relatives, but try not to let them get to you. Put your energies into helping your kid, taking care of yourself, and helping the cause when you can. Hang in there, this too, will pass.

And the brownshirts will NOT win!

13. I hate them too but until we beat the tar out of them we have to put
up with the ones we care about. My best and dearest life long friend is a repug and we have nearly strained our wonderful relationship as much as it can be strained over politics for all of the chimpy years. She is the type who is easily brainwashed and lives to tune into hear the gospel of Pat Robertson, James Dobson and all of the other Christian troublemakers. I am a Christian too but I draw the line at becoming FIXATED on religion. I believe in living FAITH, not choking on it. God gave me a brain and I can use it to think and thinking means seeing the freepers for who and what they really are. I wish the sheeple would wake up and smell the coffee. I wish you didn't have to put up with the situation you are in and I wish you could get your money back. Remember that what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. Be proud of your son. He has enough to worry about and your pride will give him more strength to survive than your bitterness. Please remember that DU is your family too and all of us are here to vent on each other anytime we need to. Vent away! We love you and will pray for your son.

17. Just come vent here, Binka. I don't know what to say, but I know
you are under HUGE pressure. When my brother left the base in Germany for Iraq back in 1991, I did all kinds of stupid shit that comes from having a distracted mind. Please try to stay focused on the good things that will bring him home safely. Please visualize it. Write yourself a script, and mentally visualize, and I swear you'll feel better. I did that with a support group and everyone swears they felt much calmer.

I'm sorry your relatives are nuts and are engaging you like this instead of being supportive. I have some freepers relatives also.

18. do these people ever stop and think beyond the lame catch phrases???
EVER??!?!?!? I mean seriously, there were no WMD. Osama is in Pakistan/Afghanistan, the 9/11 terrorists were from Saudi Arabia, no terrorists were in Iraq before the war. I mean just the sheer amount of evidence of what a fuckup Iraq is is mindboggling. DO THESE PEOPLE EVER THINK?????????????????

19. Not all families
My daughter reenlisted after a year in Afghanistan, which she hated. She got money, a promotion, and a way into a new "non deployable" unit. (I took care of my grandson during that year) I bother to keep myself politically informed, so I never, ever bought into any of the pro-war bullshit, even if it came from my daughter. She knows that * is an incompetent, and she also knows that war was not the solution. She knows that the war in Iraq is a failure. ("Mom, those boys in Iraq just need to come home") But she occasionally had to support her position as a soldier ie. "We're fighting for your freedom" Because she IS a soldier. Now she feels she can be part of change from within, if only a little, so I don't hear any more of that bullshit. Now, when she was gone, I taught my 5 year old grandson to say "bush sucks" every time he saw him on TV. ( yeah yeah I know it was wrong) She told me "I better not get lynched" because on her base folks are very pro-bush. Military families feel they have to defend him because they live in this indoctrinated world that really isn't connected to reality. Non military families that support this shit are either confused, ignorant or nuts. Or all three. Sorry you had to go through this.
