Spanking down that "You don't speak for me, Cindy!" tour
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Supporters of President Bush clashed with anti-war activists as they wound their way through California after rallying in the hometown of Cindy Sheehan, the mother who started a protest camp outside Bush's Texas ranch.

Conservative activists and military families embarked on the tour Monday, calling it "You don't speak for me, Cindy!" A verbal confrontation erupted when the caravan arrived in Sacramento and was met by anti-war protesters chanting for Bush to bring home the troops.

Sheehan supporter Dan Elliott, 71, confronted caravan members by waving a sign reading "Death is not support" and heckling one of the tour's organizers as she addressed the crowd.

"You are ruining the morale over there," responded Greg Parkinson, a Bush supporter.

1. I think the only morale we're ruining is the shrubs
"You are ruining the morale over there," responded Greg Parkinson, a Bush supporter.

Even if this is so, better their morale than their lives. It's just wrong that so many bushites are so STUPID.

3. Yes they are
They don't seem to realize that nothing will improve the morale of our troops more than the news they are coming home.

7. Want some really interesting information about the pro-war group?
This is an e-mail I got today, it's too good not to share.

VACAVILLE, Calif. (AP) — A caravan proclaiming support for U.S. troops began a tour through California on Monday and stopped in the hometown of Cindy Sheehan, the anti-war mother who gained national prominence during a vigil outside President Bush’s Texas ranch.

Conservative activists and military families embarked on a tour they are calling “You don’t speak for me, Cindy!” and are planning rallies in several California cities before heading to Crawford, Texas.

Vacaville was among several stops for the caravan, which is being sponsored by Move America Forward, a Bay Area-based group. Other rallies Monday were scheduled in San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno and Bakersfield.

When the MAF website first went up this take a look at who is was registered to:

The .com address was first registered using this information:

Registrant:
Russo Marsh & Rogers
770 L Street, #950
Sacramento, CA 95814
US

That’s right, this genuine act of patriotism is brought to you by the Republican public relations firm Russo Marsh and Rogers. The Move America Forward organization isn’t just based in the Bay Area, it’s based in the same offices as the Russo PR firm. Same receptionist answers calls for both organizations. Website was registered to the firm until they figured out that it wouldn’t look good if people knew that a PR firm was behind this ‘patriotic grassroots activist group.’

The President muffs it big time when he refuses to meet with the mother of a dead American soldier because he’s ‘too busy’ on his vacation and then Republicans follow that up by going and getting this PR firm to sponsor a caravan to denounce her.

Aside from bad politics that’s just disgustingly loathsome behavior.

15. Please do...
I'd appreciate it, I'm pretty computer ignorant. I just thought it might help if we knew who was behind this "spontaneous" demonstration.

19. Gee, more Astroturf grass roots -- whoda guessed?
Here's how grass roots works, for our lurking friends visiting from the short bus:

See, people who give up their time and money to make a statement is grass roots. When they attract other like-minded persons, that's grass roots.

When your group is put together by a PR firm, and your spokespeople are shills paid to put out the message, that's not grass roots. That's professional protesting, a charge that curiously was made about Cindy Sheehan and her supporters.

I wondered where the "professional protesters" idea came from when I heard it last week, and as usual, it was to inoculate themselves from criticism.
