Druggie Limbaugh: "I don't even know what's news about [Robertson]"
This is so funny today. It was so predictable. I've had so far three inquiries from mainstream media outlets, breathlessly wanting to know, "Are you going to be talking about Pat Robertson? -- and if you are, we would like you to tell us when, because we would like to roll tape on your comments," and I said to each of them, "No, I'm not going to be talking about Pat Robertson. You, nor anybody else in the mainstream media, set the agenda on this program." It is just flat out amazing. They're just grasping at straws out there at anything they can do to try to discredit all of the right wing or the conservative movement in this country, but I said, "Nope. As far as I'm concerned, the Pat Robertson story doesn't advance anything. I don't even know what's news about it, and so you go get somebody else's comments."

1. Well, it really isn't "news" about Robertson
Because he spews this kind of hate all the time. So it's not unexpected at all.

But it MUST be exposed.

5. Yeah, I mean a televangelist who personally speaks to GWB ...
...advocating assassination by special government operatives of another country's head of state...

...what's newsworthy about that?

6. So
by making a comment about it he's not making a comment about it? Huh? Does anyone really think any main stream media called him to find out if he's going to talk about it... of course not.

11. Yeah, I thought that, too.
"No comment" is a comment, especially one as long as that one. ANd no, I don't believe anyone in the MSM cares what Rush says anymore. Both sides know he's irrelevant.

7. I don't understand...
Now, when Robertson and Falwell were blaming 09/11 on gay people, feminists, the ACLU and pro-choice people, Limbaugh actually condemned Falwell and Robertson for those horrible remarks. On air. It was one of the 1/5 handful of times I actually agreed with Limbaugh.

So, why is this thing "not any news"?

12. He retracted that criticism the next day
after speaking to "the Reverend Falwell."

8. Rush won't talk about it, but for other reasons
Back when Falwell made his comments about gays and lesbians being partially to blame for 9-11, Limbaugh actually took him to task for it. The next day he gave a very carefully worded statement along the lines of "After speaking with Reverend Falwell last night, I realize that some of my comments may have been misconstrued as criticism of him. I am basically in agreement with him. My only objection to his statements was (insert some minor technical difference which was in no way compatible with what he actually said)."

Rush Limbaugh is not a free market success story. Rush Limbaugh was pushed onto radio stations across the US by heavy marketing from nuts like Falwell and Robertson and Gingrich. They own him, lock, stock and barrel, and they set his agenda. I suspect that the only media people who called to find out what he planned to say today about Robertson was Robertson or Falwell, warning him to keep his drug-numbed tongue silent on the issue.

The way you know that Rush doesn't really believe what he says is to listen to him. He has no depth of understanding of his own ideology. He flops all over the place, contradicting himself frequently. His only job is to sell what Falwell and Robertson et al tell him to sell. And right now, his only audience are the people waiting for the 700 Club to come on. He can't speak out against Robertson any more than, as they say, Lambchop can speak out against Sheri Lewis.

10. What if an Iranian Cleirc..
..that was known to be an advisor to the new president said something similar. This cleric also ran for president as a candidate of the same party as the current government majority. Now would that be news? We'd be launching the bombers tomorrow.

13. Why is a "news organization" interested in what he says?
I saw that ABC WNT had something he had to say about the NARAL ad on a few weeks ago. This could suggest that he is a credible source or not harmful to listen to.

The press is beyond dead.
