maybe Pat Robertson is the "canary in the mineshaft"...
he's said soemthing insane - but now the media has the opportunity to "take a close look at Hugo Chavez".

Maybe Pat is just the starting bell in the run-up to war or destabilization in Venezuela.

They are setting the stage by telling us how he's a leftist - he's been hanging out with iran, he's friends with Fidel, and he has 15% of our Oil.....

1. What's next?
Chavez is the most dangerous, ruthless despot since Hitler?

We must act now or Venezuela may invade us? With their just-discovered weapons of mass destruction?

5. heck, if Ray-Gun the Stupid could try to threaten us with the Nicaraguan
boogeyman--they'll cross the Rio Grande!--who knows WHAT they'll do.
And with the LeMays in charge, the next Cuban Missile Crisis--real or fabricated (there's a cold wind coming from the Northwoods)--will go out with a real bang of a show-stopper.

8. I agree. he is their sentinel on this one

It has all the makings of KKKarl.

This was planned, they knew Robertson was going to say something wild. They told him what to say.

For some reason it reminds me of the way that * held that little fire side chat on tv with Jenna calling the dog and her foot bouncing.

They were speaking to the base and telling them the fix was in.

Robertson is talking in code. He is a terrorist!

then it's high time we sic the cats on him! And the normal, sane, moderate and/or liberal Christians (including Catholics) are the cats in that same shaft!

15. This is exactly what I thought when I first heard his statements
And the way that everything is playing out gives credibility to this thought.

The US backed coup was unsuccessful. Chavez is not being silent about the US involvement in that attempted coup. Furthermore, Chavez is poking the imperialist neo-thugs in the eye reminding them of the oil that they could not steal from the Venezuelan people.

Most Americans have never heard of Chavez.

Enter Robertson.

The "news" outlets are talking about Chavez, hitting all of the reich wing talking points.

Next, you can bet that all of the hate radio talk show hosts will be spewing all of the talking points on Chavez---educating the gop-bots, don't ya know.

17. US media has always been hostile to Chavez. I think they're in CYA mode.
I think Robertson's statement wasn't supposed to be met with such a reaction, but now that it has, the media is trying to figure out a way to mitigate the damage and probably exit from this mistake at least with a lot of people thinking that Chavez isn't a good guy (if not that he should be assassinated or that Roberston is a man of god).
