7. Every Friday

Every Friday I wake up anticipating word from Fitzgerald and the grand jury only to have my hopes dashed.

I think the long wait *has* to be good news. If Fitzgerald had a weak case, or only snagged West Wing staffers, I think he would have already either folded the investigation or have issued indictments.

But if he's got Chimpster and/or Crashcart he would not want to tip his hand until there was a political environment in which they would be held accountable for their crimes. He's also probably still firming up the case. The administration isn't going to help him very much, which will undoubtedly add gasoline to the obstruction of justice and conspiracy fires. But with the Repugs firmly in control, a sealed addenda naming Bandar Boosh and Crashcart would go for naught because Congress would not act against them no matter how loud the Dems yelled. There would be no hearings, no investigations, nothing but denials, lies, and personal attacks.

I don't see any other way to interpret the long, long wait for resolution to this affair. It's been over two years now.
