Do you think the public is "getting it" about Camp Casey? |
|
I'm worried that the Camp Casey is being spun by the talking heads into a general "antiwar" rally focusing on brining the troops home.
While we all want the troops to come home, let's not lose focus of the real intent.
Cindy wants to talk to Bush about WHY WE ARE THERE, not to demand that the troops come home now.
She wants to make a point that the war is based on lies. The focus of the discussions should be about the lies, the Downing Street Minutes, the lies about Niger that Bush knowingly told in the state of the union address, and about the entire atmosphere about fixed intelligence and even Traitorgate.
While the media has been very quiet about all the investigations (like the ones Conyers is running) this is our big opportunity to see these issues brought to the forefront.
The debate should not focus primarily on bringing the troops home now (although that should be an outcome of the discussion). the debate should focus on why they were sent there in the first place.
If you look at the questions Cindy wants to ask Bush, that's what she's interested in primarily. it would be a huge missed opportunity if the debate shifts to a general discussion about war and peace, and bringing the troops home, the other side is winning the spin game. They can talk about how it is hurting morale for the troops and such, while the focus should really be about the lies that led to war.
First things first. If Cindy can help enlighten the public about the lies, it will naturally follow that support for the war will diminish even further and a call to end it will follow.
I haven't caught all the coverage but it certainly seems aparent to me that the media is talking about Cindy's desire to end the war, more than Downing Street and such. That tells me the spin machine is in full force.

By the media whores who did their best to cram the bushit reasons for this war on Iraq down Americans' throats. HAVE THEY NO SHAME? Silly question, since I already know the answer.

6. she should be called the "truth mom" not the "peace mom" |
|
it really irks me that this is being transformed into a discussion of war v. peace instead of lies v. truth.

2. I don't watch cable news but my stepdaughter told me that |

they are mostly showing the pro-war people and barely showing the anti-war crowd. When I told her there were about 300 people in the anti-war camp and less than a dozen in the pro-war camp she was surprised. I guess they do close shots of the handful of pro-war people, which leaves out all the empty space around them making it look like there are as many supporters of Bush as there are protesters. Whores!

8. I think the public supports her right to have her voice heard. |
|
They may get tired of her eventually, but for now, she has general support.
