Portland Oregon Lloyd Center pharmacy refused to fill
Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 06:15 PM by Danieljay
my gf's Plan B prescription after a, lets just say, birth control malfunction. They refused to fill the script. The pharmacist actually put his hand on hers, looked her straight in the eye, and said "oh ....I'm so sorry". Its because of "religious beliefs" and that he refuses to terminate the life of a fetus.

She felt totally patronized and she was PISSED.

Possibly also picketing if sufficient numbers are outraged.

Also, was there a lawsuit about this recently?

4. It is a small pharmacy inside the Lloyd Center
not affiliated with a large chain, iirc. I'll look for contact info.

5. Then maybe he'd like to take
responsibility for any child that results from their interfering, meddling, judgmental bullshit? I had a hysterectomy a few years ago, so I no longer need to worry about birth control, but I'll tell you this. Any pharmacist that dares to put his or her own beliefs and religious agenda before the needs of his customers, who thinks they know better than the doctor who wrote the prescription, who thinks they can tell people they don't even know what to do when they don't know that person or their life and circumstances, and who refuses to do his or her job by filling a prescription because they don't like it, should be immediately fired. And, oh, yeah, they can kiss my ass, too!

7. Plan B doesn't terminate the life of a fetus.
So the pharmacist is a moron on top of being a basic idiot.

11. exactly, its NOT RU 486
but he said life begins at conception and therefore he would be terminating a life.

Plan B® is an emergency contraceptive that can still prevent a pregnancy after contraceptive failure or unprotected sex.

Plan B® should be taken within 3 days (72 hours) of unprotected sex and can reduce the risk of pregnancy by 89%. But the sooner you take it the more effective it will be.

Plan B® is not RU-486 (the abortion pill); it will not work if you are already pregnant.
