hillary vs mccain - what's the damn difference?
Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 06:16 PM by Adenoid_Hynkel
there really isn't one. these two are closer on the issues than any two nominees in recent political history.

actually, you could make the argument that voting for mccain would move the country more to the left, as, once he's out from ounder bush, mccain would push the GOP back to the center-while hillary would only push the dems further right

i hope to god that this isn't the choice, but if it is, i honestly don't know how i'd vote w/o a third party involved

The United States has two right wings.

Bill and Hill are Rockefeller Republicans in their policies.

4. If McCain wins
Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 06:22 PM by kenny blankenship
no more extramarital blowjobs in the Whitehouse for Bill. But if Hillary wins, lookout steno pool! That would be sufficient motivation for many Americans to vote for McCain--just to keep Bill the pussyhound off their nightly news.

Actually the difference is that McCain has a chance and Hillary has no chance.

5. Hillary's pro-choice. I think.
McCain's pro-life. So there's that. Not that it's likely to matter much, once Bush gets done stacking the Supremes. McCain's in favor of teaching "intelligent design;" Hillary, I presume, isn't. So there's that, too. Hillary vs. Giuliani, on the other hand--practically indistinguishable.

10. Hillary is supposed to be pro-choice, but I don't know anymore
Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 07:02 PM by DemGirl7
she's been playing the "let's kiss the ass of some anti-choicers" game lately. Which has been making me sick, in that as a citizen of NY, I might not vote for anyone for Senate in 2006.

I believe that he supports legal abortion.

16. How is Hillary better on gay rights than McCain?
Both voted against the marriage amendment and both are against gay marriage.

And I think that McCain supports abortion to a certain extent. Hillary is leaning away from being 100% pro choice herself.

no wonder w elose all of our elections. Take a good look at Hillary's voting record and then McCains. there is quite a difference. People said the same thing about Bush and Gore in 2000. Dont you wish you had Gore now? I beleive there was quite a difference between Bill Clinton and Bush 1 as well. I am a liberal too and find it hard to swallow moderation but come on this is stupid.

12. I agree - this is a bit crazy - Hillary is a moderate -liberal and to
pretend McCain is other than a pro-life/anti-gay conservative who likes to hug Bush is a joke that goes over my head.

13. McCain would never get the GOP nomination, especially now.
The religous right credits itself with the Bush 2004 win, and I don't think they will sit in the back quietly in 2008 - it will be their candidate or all hell will break loose, IMO. The GOP has been stringing them along for 25yrs now, promising to ban abortion, etc.

18. Disagree, McCain has a very good short with the religious right...
The Pat Robertsons/Jerry Falwells were pissed as hell when the "nuclear option" wasn't used. However, now it appears as though the "gang of 14" compromise is working more in the favor of the Republicans. If John Roberts gets confirmed, McCain will be able to say "I'm responsible for getting a conservative justice an easy confirmation to the Supreme Court".

21. No, but the fact that he supports Stem Cell Research...
was against the tax cuts, was against the marriage amendment, and co-authored the largest campaign finance reform bill in the last decade does make him less conservative than Bush.

Hillary I'd probably end up voting for (largely out of party loyalty) but I don't think that she'd be much better than McCain.

24. like isaid, i might very well vote mccain if hillary is the nominee
because it would get the religious right out of power with the GOP and weaken them in the long-term, moving one of the two parties a bit left. i don't like mccain, but he's better than most republicans. i think if bush were gone, he'd actually govern to the left of his current self. yes, he pissed me off last year by proving he'll sell out to Bush keep his ambitions intact.

where as Hillary would be more lurching to the right same old BS. and she and her husband are completely self-serving and will screw the base to advance their yuppie asses any chance they get.

not much of a choice - can i start donating to feingold yet?
