Ed Schultz appreciation thread
I listen to Ed Schultz every day when I go to lunch, and I think he's a tremendous asset to have on our side! He might not be as liberal as Mike Malloy or Stephanie Miller, but he's a lot closer than many people give him credit for. Would a "Dino" support Cindy Sheehan and criticize the Iraq war the way he has? Would a "DLCer" come out so strongly against CAFTA? Former Republicans can be some of the most passionate progressives. He has been on that side, made the transition, and now wants to cause others to do the same. His style is different than other progressives, but he is somebody people from red states can relate to. Remember, George Lakoff has talked about how people tend to vote for who they relate to rather than who they agree with.

Everybody has different tastes, and there is nothing wrong with not liking certain shows. However, I think it's a huge mistake to try to damage the reputation of somebody who can bring people over to our side and who wants the same thing that we do: To defeat the right wing.

3. Ed Schultz is well appreciated by me....
I can only listen between 5:00 and 6:00 on my way home from work, bu I never miss a show. I have been listening ever since AAR can to our town.

He's #1 in my book.

The only flaw he has is: I sometimes wish he would give the re pugs a little more time to speak their piece before he breaks them down. He needs to let them make more of a fool of themselves first.

Ed ROCKS!

4. I did not like his show very much until recently.
However, I was pleasantly surprised at his strong support for Cindy and the rest of the anti-war movement. He has made a supporter out of me now and I find myself listening to him regularly.

6. I am in complete agreement with you on Ed
I think he is an excellent asset - just listening to that RW psycho who called yesterday saying that there is nothing we can do and that God controls everything and that we should just sit back and watch the will of God unfold before us. He didn't interrupt and all he said was "I'm glad people like that feel like they can call and express themselves" (he said something to that effect). It would drive some people here at DU crazy, but he actually has Fundies listening to his show!!!!! That's AMAZING!!! They may not agree, BUT THEY ARE LISTENING AND LEARNING. Well, at least some of them are capable of taking input - and we need those people on our side!

I listen to him hoping that I can pick up some tips on how to talk to "Righties" and get them to see the light
