This Hits Home-- A Picture of A Soldier Leaving His Family To Head to Iraq
This was the scene in my small town rural Alabama today as the local National Guard was leaving to go to Indiana for training before heading to Iraq. Thank Mr. George W. Bush for this quality photograph. :(

1. What town in Alabama?
I'm from the county seat of Clarke County. Is it anywhere near there?

5. I was born in Andalusia
although I didn't grow up there. It has been many years since I have been there.

One of my cousins from Andalusia was an 18-year-old radio man in the Pacific during World War II. My mother said my (much older) cousin came home a nervous wreck.

I hope the soldier in the picture gets through this war with as little damage as possible. My heart goes out to his family.

3. I remember the last time I sent my kid back to Iraq
It killed me...he gave me a quick hug and left-because he didn't want me to see him cry(his third deployment to the War zone)
