Camp Casey Central Phoenix AZ Report
It was a nice turnout tonight. Not sure how many (25-30?) but it made a long line on the sidewalk and lots of signs. Mitch showed up with a megaphone and some of us took turns repeating some salient points (like 1800 dead U.S. troops - NO WMD - No followed by the refrain "What noble cause?"

One cool thing that happened was a mom with 2 or 3 of her kids in the car stopped at the red light, honked for us, and her kids wanted to speak into the megaphone and ask that we bring their dad home! We let both of her kids take a shot at it! Maybe they couldn't be heard well, be we repeated what they had said for them. That was really neat!

We also had an artist who volunteered his talents for a billboard if anyone wanted to rent one for a month. He showed an interest in freeway blogging so I got his contact info. He may be there again tomorrow. If not, I'll call him.

1. We had a good turn out in Mesa tonight as well
I was surprised at the turnout to be honest. It was posted on DU today and that did bring some people out. A pastor of a christian church and his family showed up with their signs, a Viet Nam vet and his family with their signs, they have become regulars now, and some young ones and old ones too. And one guy that decided he would start some trouble with us, but the police took him aside and checked him out then he was told to leave us alone. The police have been good to us so far. Many driving by know now that we will be there every night and they come by to honk and wave. I am impressed with the variety of people that come out to make their statement for Peace. It gives me hope.
