Search on for Missing Teen Actress
http://entertainment.tv.yahoo.com/entnews/eo/20050824/112494420000.html

Teen actress Scout Taylor-Compton, known to TV viewers for her recurring roles on Gilmore Girls and Charmed, has gone missing from her California home.

Her family and police confirmed that the 16-year-old, whose credits also include a starring role in the 2004 teen comedy Sleepover and a bit part in in the 2004 Jennifer Garner comedy 13 Going on 30, had not been seen at her home in Apple Valley, about an hour northeast of Los Angeles, since Aug. 12.

"We sincerely appreciate everyone's attention and concern regarding Scout and are praying for her safe return," the family said in a statement Wednesday. "We have faith in the agencies working on the case and are optimistic that the outcome will be positive."

The San Bernadino Sheriff's Department says there is no indication of foul play and the actress is likely a runaway. A sheriff's deputy has been assigned to the case, and the family has also hired a private investigator. According to a biography posted on IMDb.com, Compton, who sometimes goes by the nickname Desiree, had been in New Jersey filming an indie feature titled Tomorrow Is Today in June. She was said to be "in Canada meeting with a director for a lead role in a new feature film" in August, although no date was provided for the meeting.

What happens if *I* go missing? Will you all miss me? Will the media turn my case into a frenzy?

2. Of course we'd miss you..........
but I wouldn't expect the media to say a word. Missing males don't seem to get the same attention, although I DID hear about a "missing" bridegroom in South America (I think) that pulled a "Jennifer Milbanks".
Yes, I expect the media circus will start any moment now with 24/7 coverage of this actress' disappearance. It's been a slow news month with bush on vacation and all. All they've really had to report on is Cindy, and I think they're growing tired of that. It's just so un-American. :eyes:

5. Yeah, I forgot about that one........
you're not by any chance cavorting around with an aged "singer", are you? The reason he's being reported on is because of her, not him. You'd better find at least a semi-famous aging actress/singer to glom onto if you want any media attention, Roland99. That is of course, in the event you go missing. We'd all want to know about it. ;)

12. There's a young gentlemen
whose missing in Japan from my area. I haven't heard of any national coverage. He was teaching in Japan and went missing the day he was leaving for home. My heart goes out to his family. Fund raising efforts are taking place to help his family search for him. You are right, it's not news worthy when guys are missing, especially ones of fine character.

4. I think we need a special gov't agency just to protect white women
Based on media attention/coverage, it seems they are in some serious danger..in much more danger than any other type of person.

Our nation's first priority must be to save these women.

Perhaps we can set up an agency similar Homeland Security, with terror alerts and everything.

These are trying times, my fellow Americans, we must do what is neccessary.

6. Yeah, like the Amber Alerts. Neon signs all along the highways
to keep these missing blondes uppermost on our minds 24/7.

Or they could just say like "Jackson" and we would automatically fill in the known blanks and continue to worry, worry, worry about the latest fake national problem.

"Aruba"

"Runaway Bride"

"Peterson"

See? I'm forgetting all about Bush already. Bush who?

7. Greta Van Sustern from Faux wrote a blog yesterday
where she talked about the epidemic of missing persons in the United States.:tinfoilhat: Uhm, if there was really an epidemic of missing people in the US, wouldn't the FBI be releasing stats that proved this to be true? It was just one more pathetic attempt by a media whore to justify their excessive coverage of these kinds of stories. But what else is Faux going to talk about (or any media outlet for that matter)--how "well" the war is going?

10. Considering the millions of dollars worth of media coverage this could get
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 06:38 AM by 1932
I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be a publicity stunt.

I'm not saying that I think it's likely. I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised.

So long as you don't file a police report, it's not a crime to be cute, a girl, and missing. And you know Fox and CNN is going to eat this up. Hell, CNN's parent company owns the Gilmore Girls, so they probably wouldn't mind getting everyone thinking about the show before the fall season starts, regardless of whether this is a publicity stunt. (Except, abduction probably isn't something the Gilmore Girls wants to evoke.)
