"Enlistments are down because Cowardice is UP!" - Crazy Republican talk
Perusing the web, I came across this nasty post on a right wing site

http://www.freeconservatives.com/vb/showthread.php?t=26586

I note there's no mention of the author having served

Why won't these people admit that young people don't want to go and die for *'s war? They have to blame everything on the liberals

1. Cowardice by the sons of daughters of Bush voters
I'm tired of this shit. The next time I see someone that supports the war, I'll ask 'em point blank why they haven't served or why their child isn't serving.

3. Enlistment is down
Because common sense and good judgement are soaring. Let him go to Goarmy.com and enlist or STFU

4. Actually, he makes a lot of good points.
The part about "Ben Franklin" was dead-on.
He's been misled about the war,
and he doesn't realize the protesters are fighting to keep America free.
If he realizes the truth, he might turn around,
like Congressman "Freedom Fries" Jones.

5. I liked "Riverboat" with the Mark Twain avatar
If he knew how much of a proto-Lefty Mark Twain really was, he'd change his nickname and avatar in a big hurry!

But then again, the mad-dog Right of the Depression era worshipped USMC Major-General Smedley Butler, and tried to recruit him for a planned junta to overthrow FDR. They didn't know that Butler was a highly independent, liberal thinker, and informed Congress post haste.

You may remember Butler's name from an essay he wrote titled "War Is A Racket".

6. An election that can't be fixed
People vote with their feet. That's an election that can't be fixed.

The lack of a just cause affects the outcome of war.

The lack of righteousness of war affects the outcome.

Where's all that talk of the "volunteer force" and "tooth to tail?"

The Pentagon and the legislature will have to pay whatever the market will bear to get people to go to the war zone. This is something that the gilded age restoration crowd can't bear, paying for labor. It takes money away from the armaments and defense contractor profiteers on a long term basis.

8. Supporting peace in the world does wonders for peace in America.
Maybe these people will wake up and realize the America must get along with its neighbors. Isolationism is not feasible.

7. Oh these people so suck! Vitriol and bile for whomever doesn't conform
is the rule. Neocons must all be experiencing their first incarnation as humans. Clearly, they were formerly ants.

10. The brain washing has this woman all screwed up.
She contends: My friend Bill is a hero.

Her friend Bill is a victim. He's a victim of the right wings rhetoric. George W Bush has basically painted himself into a corner with the blood of people like Bill and people like her cheered him on all the way.

She blathers on: THEY ARE PLACING THEIR BODIES IN HARMS WAY for what they believe.

They are tools, pawns being sacrificed to the God-King Bush. People like her can't admit this war is a colossal blunder. They can't admit that Iraq really wasn't a threat at all and the reasons given to justify the war were lies meant to cover the real reason we attacked Iraq - OIL. Admitting that would be admitting that their precious Republican Party is so corrupt that it comes to the level of treason.

12. More Chickenhawk rhetoric.....
Same oldstuff, different day.

Some day, the reality will come to them that this is a war about OIL, and the enrichment of some remarlably greedy billion/millionaires. No one should sacrifice themselves for the enrichment of the few that insist on gaining money and power.

who probably would claim that they'd be able to kick liberal asses - and yet, they're too "physically unable" to enlist . . .

14. I guess no one wants to support Bush's war...
- infinite extensions past the terms of the enlistment contract.
- recalls of men who are no longer obligated, even men in their 50's.
- inadequate and improper equipment has nothing to do with it either.
And, lordy, that body armor (if you're lucky enough to have it) doesn't even stop bullets!

Gee, I wonder why enlistments are down?
