I spoke with a man who works in the oil fields sort of... he is doing |
|
ground work, setting up the site for the rig.... I opened with "do you think it is time for the troops to come home?" and did I get a surprise.... he voted for shrub first go around.... but not the second. He is totally fed up, informed and on top of things. He also asked me why the hell is crude as high as it is... I now believe that shrub's base is bust, and what a wonderful bust it is... heh, heh, heh....

1. One of the most rabid conservatives I know |
|
has gotten off the GOP crazy train.
Not over the war, not over the lies, but over high gas prices. This moran has about a forty-mile one-way commute from one side of Houston to the other, and drives a V-8 Dodge pickup. Last month he told me he was spending $300 a month for gas, so he's probably spending $500 this month.
He can't bring himself to vote for any Democrat, but he won't vote Puke (says he'll stay home like he did in 1996 -- and mentioned disgust with Dole specifically).
Just to show you how stupid he really is, he believes that the government and the oil companies have conspired to rape the consumer; that growing development in China is a myth.
"You ever seen any middle-class Chinese?!?" They don't own cars; there ain't no highways there..."

2. Tell him to vote anyway. There may be some local issues |
|
worthy of his considerations.

6. It's better -- truly -- if he does what he says he'll do |
|
and sit it out. Otherwise he's likely to punch a straight GOP ticket.
He once asked a polling judge why his straight Republican ticket couldn't be counted for the Constutional amendments the same way (yes or no) as what the GOP advocated.
The judge couldn't give him an answer, so he didn't vote for any.

3. A 40 mile commute across Houston? |
|
How long does that take him? Two hours each way? Seriously. Houston traffic is hideous. And this guy sits in his V-8, idling away his gas money? I'll bet his blood pressure goes through the roof every time he sits in bumper-to-bumper traffic - which would be every minute of every day in Houston. I'd feel sorry for him if he wasn't driving a V-8, of all things. :eyes:

4. Don't feel sorry for him |
|
He's a moran. To the core.
I love the guy like a brother; we went to college together and were in each other's weddings.
But his mind left him years ago (perhaps from all the dope he smokes or something).

7. People like that make me sick |
|
Never mind the dead soldiers. Never mind the torture and rape, never mind the dead Iraqi children. I'm pissed because gas is $2.75 a gallon. Fuck him.
