Is Bush to blame for closing of historic Walter Reed Hospital?
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 10:03 AM by glarius
It seems sad to me that some of your historic institutions are being lost because of the fact that Bush and his buddies have spent money like a drunken sailor! Has anyone thought of the fact that all these military closings etc. are as a result of the recklessness of the Bushies' spending on this insane war etc. and running up this huge debt?....The federal commission has voted to close Walter Reed hospital...I know this hospital is over 100 years old and has a great reputation....
<snip>
Located in the nation's capital, century-old Walter Reed Army Medical Center has treated presidents and foreign leaders as well as veterans and soldiers, including those returning from the Iraq war.

1. Looks like a good idea
Most of Walter Reed's work would be relocated to a more modern, expanded hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, that will be renamed Walter Reed in a nod to the old facility's heritage.

from the CNN article.

5. does it make sense?
not to me. Is it cheaper for me to remodel my home or buy a new one?

Is it cheaper to modernize Walter Reed or build a new one?

7. They're combining it with the Naval Hospital
It will be cheaper to remodel and update one hospital rather then two (especially one that is already fairly modernized). If it improves the quality and level of care for the veterans, then I say it is a good decision.

2. What a shame. There's so much history there, not to mention

all that "healing energy" at that site. I had the occasion to spend a few days there once upon a time because my brother, then in the AF, had been transferred there. It is a special place.

These barbarians have absolutely no heart, no soul, and will do what they can to eviscerate everything that smacks of that of ours.

3. I would say YES
We are going to have a lot of work to do when we finally pry his lying ass out of the whitehouse.
I just now realize that I won't ever see this country as it was 6 years ago again, done too old.

4. It reminds me of professional ball teams saying they need a new arena
...every five years.

It's all about the contracts. Just like shrub's war.
