"Return to Sender" an action mail idea? |
|
I just read the heartbreaking account of the family who found out the details of their sons death from the WP article. In the account, one thing jumped out at me, and pricked a common tender place in me. It also gave me an idea.
What does anyone think of making some kind of folded flag postcard type document- Addressed to bush at the White House, to the head honchos who fought so hard for this war, and on the back side, perhaps putting a name of one of our fallen, (not sure) but putting a bold unmistakable message saying something to the effect :
RETURN TO SENDER YOU CHOSE TO SEND US TO WAR TRADING A LOVED ONE FOR A FLAG GIVING A LIFE FOR A LIE IS A POOR EXCHANGE BRING OUR TROOPS HOME NOW NO MORE FLAG DRAPED BOXES
I could fashion what i have in mind, but don't have the 'know-how' to put it on the computer or the net- I envisioned the front with the triangular flag image with room for the address, and the text on the back? maybe placed along the stripes of the 'imaginary' folded flag? there are many gifted digital artists here, anyone think this might be an effective idea?
and feel free to be honest, or to alter this in any way. I have lots of 'ideas' many of them are awful.

1. It is a good idea, but |
|
is the mailer itself to be triangular? I'm not sure the USPS allows that. It would also have to be cut that way at the printer's, making the mailer much more expensive.

I believe it could be 'cut' triangularly- even if we had to do it ourselves before we sent it, the PO usually charges more for out of the norm parcels. Maybe the corners could be left blank, or black? or used for personal comments???
Just 'thinking' in public.-
Tossing out the idea to others more gifted than i.

4. Somewhere I remember another "return to sender" scheme |
|
using a return address of say 1600 Pa. Ave and a mailing address that is undeliverable, mail gets returned to 1600 Pa.

put "Return to sender" on the front, but rather as a ...'statement' on the message on the flip side.
Wish i could SHOW you what i'm thinking. It's hard to verbalize.
I'd have no problem putting my own address on the 'return' space. Actually it would be interesting to do, just to see how the WH would respond. I might just give it a go, on my own.- I made my own card for Cindy at the Peace House- felt it was the least i could do.
Thanks for inspiring me to just do it.

I sent a P.C. out when they asked early on.....from my hometown. Did Cindy ever get them? They went to the Peace House.
