"Fight them at Home" - how does that work, anyway?
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 02:34 PM by maxsolomon
1.American opinion turns against the Iraq war. "America Haters" convince everyone to stop "supporting our troops".
2. The "terrorists" see it on CNN, tape it, show it to their buddies, and they become emboldened when they were just about to quit. They redouble their efforts.
3. The troops see it on CNN, get all depressed, and then when the "terrorists" attack them, they say "why bother fighting back, no one likes us at home", and they get shot, or blown up. Or they purposely drive into IEDs.
4. Having driven our clinically depressed forces out of Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and creating a Palestinian state, achieving every aim of OBL, the "terrorists" begin infiltrating America's porous borders, where they launch daylight attacks "in our streets", things like suicide bombs, ambushes, hijackings, and eventually, a suitcase nuke.

Is that what Bush is saying is going to happen?

2. Or in the more likely version of Bush's Murka
We kill them over there to appease and impede the frustrated rednecks from lynching innocent American muslims.

3. i sincerely doubt that they would know where to find American Muslims
after all, they'd have to go into a CITY to do it, and then differentiate between mulitple brown-skinned peoples. is that a muslim or a hindu? and eritrean or a ethiopian christian? sudanese or somali? their brains could explode.

"Be exposed to them thar city folk? We'll lynch 'em anyways! It don' matter if them folks they lynchin' is islamists or not! Them city folk is mostly kweers and if they ain't thir librels!"

Just my humble interpretation of the mindset in large groups of uneducated red voters minds in the stix...

5. i don't think you're right
after 9/11 there was little retaliation against muslims in America. i'm saying that IF some redneck wanted to go bash a muslim, they'd just as likely pick the wrong victim. the british police couldn't distinguish between an arab & a brazillian.

city vs. country ignorance runs both ways. i have a foot in both camps.

7. Maybe in your neck of the woods
In the DC area, at least one store had bricks thrown through its windows, several mosques received threats and/or were vandalized, and many women wearing hijab reported being accosted on the street and threatened, including one whose son was in the military.

6. They don't bother to find out the difference
Remember the Sikh killed right after 9-11? His murderer tried to claim that it was a crime of passion, that he was upset and so it not really a murder.
