Best advice I've found all day. Please pay attention.
One more word, from those there at the Peace House. If you are coming to Crawford, please park and then make your way to the Peace House. Please do not stop on the road asking for directions. We are doing all our best to not let a traffic accident happen. Thank you ever so much.

REMEMBER THE ALAMO! REMEMBER GOLAID! REMEMBER CRAWFORD?

When President Bush purchased a ranch retreat near Crawford, six years ago, residents of that town looked forward to the new publicity sure to come from having the resident of the “Texas White House” as a neighbor.

Crawford has finally gained more worldwide attention that it had hoped for. In fewer than 6 weeks, Cindy Sheehan has brought a wealth of publicity to this small town that even the President couldn’t achieve. What’s next?

JOIN CINDY IN CRAWFORD THIS WEEKEND

Join Cindy she continues to ask “Why did Casey have to die?” Casey Sheehan, her 24-year-old son was killed in Iraq last year and Cindy wants an answer to why we’re there….the same question on the mind of Texans everywhere.

COME ONE, COME ALL!

This upcoming weekend (27th and 28th) is going to be HUGE at Camp Casey! It's the last weekend we will spend in Crawford before heading to D.C., and we want to lots of people here to experience the wonder of Camp Casey. Regardless of your original position on the war, now is the time to join your fellow Americans for democracy in action.

WEEKEND SCHEDULE

FRIDAY: we will be setting up for the big crowds expected on the weekend, both those standing with Cindy and the pro-war contingent. We want to make everyone as welcome as possible and help ease the burden on Crawford residents and police. Volunteer if you are able and spend the night with the Bright Stars of Texas.

SATURDAY: we will be having a fabulous Texas-style BBQ at Casey II. Who knows, even the Bush family might drop by for a chat (we certainly hope so!)

SUNDAY: is a National Day of Prayer for the troops; regardless of your political persuasion or position on the war, this is a day for you and your community to pray for/meditate on the troops' well-being in Iraq and Afghanistan.

HOW TO GET THERE

Please try to carpool, caravan, or rent a van or bus. We are trying to limit traffic flow and gas usage. Folks have been trying to schedule car pools from Dallas, Austin, Houston, and other cities but there are no details yet.

SHUTTLE BUS NEWS: The only bus already scheduled is from San Antonio (VIA Park & Ride at Crossroads Mall @ 7:30am, $20). see http://t4peacenewsletter.c.topica.com/maadUcVabjKFdbnKvLEbaeQA1z/ for more schedules as they become available.

DRIVING: From I-35 heading North, take exit 330 to 6 North. Go about 7 miles, cross Lake Waco and once it becomes a one-lane road, there will be a stop light. Take that left onto Rt. 85 and go 9 miles into Crawford. The Peace House will be on your right just before the railroad tracks! If you do drive, please park in Crawford, walk to the Peace House, and take a shuttle bus to Camp Casey.

WHAT TO BRING:
a. water and sunscreen, a hat or umbrella
b. an apple pie or bar-b-que to share (remember the story of the loves and fishes?)
c. a sense of humor and a bit of Texas “friendliness”

ABLE TO VOLUNTEER AND HELP OUT?

VOLUNTEERS: Please check in at the Crawford Peace House when you arrive and let them know that you are a volunteer from Texans for Peace. Someone should be expecting you and they need plenty of help.

If you can't come to Crawford this weekend, we urge you to set up Camp Caseys in your hometowns! Pick a safe, conspicuous area, and bring lots of water, umbrellas and suncreen. Make pro-peace posters with your favorite (appropriate) slogans. Engage in stimulating political discourse. Get each other excited about taking an active role in the peace process. Listen to some fun music. Etc.

5. I heard it on AAR I think. I'm using it as often as I can. Being a
native Texan I'm endlessly embarassed by the state of my state.
