Is "George" a blighted choice of name?
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 04:29 PM by EnfantTerrible
Out of abject boredom I googled the etymology of "George". I learned that it means "earthworker"... then I began to wonder if any expectant parents would still name their child George or if the chimp has effectively blighted the name out of existance.

I welcome your thoughts as well as your contributions to a list of those named George who actually made it a name to be proud of...

I'll kick us off

George: Washington
Orwell
Sand (for the ladies)

7. There are starting to be adults named "Reagan". Not only that,
one of them named his son "Reagan II". Ouch.

http://starbulletin.com/2005/08/25/sports/index1.html

Reagan Mauia, like most other football players, doesn't scare easily....

Mauia and Herrion never met. But Mauia, a 325-pound junior defensive lineman, said he has thought about him often since Saturday....

Now an even more important reason to lose weight has been reinforced. Actually two reasons: his wife, Rebekah, and son, Reagan II.

Wouldn't that be considered "child abuse"? At least there are many worthwhile Georges, like Washington, Mitchell, and Harrison. But "Reagan"? :puke:

9. My 35 y/o Parrot's name is George (blue-front Amazon)
after George Harrison. Shithead* is a blight on the name, not the other way around.
