1. I'd vote cowinkydink on this one...
Metro areas are gonna have more people, hence in plain numbers more soldiers too. Population centers also tend to be Democratic.

2. Maybe so and then again maybe not. How many freepers you know that have
enlisted? I believe with all my heart that Democrats or at least Liberals are waayyyy more Patriotic than the neoconservatives are. Very few Chickenhawks in the Democratic party but the GOP is filled to overflowing with them.

4. I actually don't know enough people to base anything on that basis
I don't think I actually know any freepers.

I share your belief that democrats are socially responsible.

But I really do think most randomly distributed events occurring to members of the US population will have a geographic correlation to population centers. To find the information the data must be "normalized" to rates so that events in areas of different population density can be compared.

Some western states have fewer residents than do individual boroughs of New York city.

5. Conservatives don't know what patriotism is
They "believe" its cool to support the "patriot" act with its cool name. Conservatives want to use the constitution as a weapon against their fellow citizens. They "believe" a magnet makes them patriotic. They "believe" that service to country does not make one patriotic ergo they don't have to serve. They "believe" forcing a religious belief on other americans is patriotic. And they absolutely know for a fact that the more ignorant one is the more likely he/she will be a patriotic conservative. They are very observant.

6. Well having overlayed the two maps...
in my photo editor. It appears to me that outside of the NE corridor, a substantial majority of the fatalities are in Red areas.

Sorry I can't upload right now to show you.

7. You should add a population density map.

To put that in perspective.
