Iraq war....divine retribution upon a nation too tolerant of homosexuality

Families, local pastors rail at Kansas preacher's protests

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. _ Middle Tennessee ministers and families of two National Guard members who died in Iraq say announced protests by members of a Kansas church are unwelcome.

....

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, have said they'll protest at both services, contending the Iraq war and the deaths of U-S soldiers are divine retribution upon a nation too tolerant of homosexuality.

In Murfreesboro, the Reverend Gene Wise of St. Paul's Episcopal Church says he can't believe people as so mean and calls their protests an abomination.

....

In Ashland City, Gary Reese calls it ironic that his son lost his life to spread the same freedom that grants minister Fred Phelps' flock the right to stage what he calls a disrespectful demonstration.

8. Funny you should ask
I posed that question to a fundie coworker back in early 2001, and his reply was a dead-serious "the antichrist won't pose as a Christian."

So Dubya is apparently off the hook because his favorite philosopher is Jesus.

4. more like- "I will humble the proud"
a god who would destroy millions to punish few isn't a god i could worship, embrace or follow.

And the few are the "Prideful arrogant self-righteous" 'leaders'- in my refrence.

7. Freddie looks like a character from a George Romero movie
Either that or some horror host - the Corpseman or something.

Anyway, everyone knows that Fred is divine retribution on a religion too tolerant of bigots:
