Is Truth Out Of Style?
We live in a land of lies, lies, and more lies. The very first settlers onto this land. started the ball of dung rolling with their lies to the native Americans. Followed by the British who invested into the ball of dung with their lies. Then as the story goes we had a George who could not tell a lie. What a non conformist old George was! Did he not realize at that point that truth was out of style?

Even the book of truth, a.k.a., the bible was and is a book of lies. From the very first chapter, In the beginning" "let there be light", if you read on you will see that light did not come into play until the third day! Then we have Adam, and Eve the first man and women on Earth. If so, what was Neanderthal who lived 150-thousand years before, chopped liver?
Lets not forget the flood story, or is that flood story two or three? For you see the Sumerians, and the Greeks had their flood stories many years before Moses took to yachting. Oh, how that ball of dung kept rolling!

American history is just butt loaded with liars. Not from just the politicians, and the business people. But from everyday people like you and me, including folk hero's, sports figures, scientists, and teachers. for example: Dropping those atomic bombs on Japan saved millions of lives, your honor I didn't know she was eleventeen, I have never used anabolic steroids in my life, cigarette smoking is good for you, Saddam has weapons of mass destruction, and 9/11 was orchestrated by Osama Bin Laden. You can see how this ball of dung has created it's own gravity. Sucking all morality into it's core.

We all have been told at some point and time in our lives that lying is wrong and even a sin. and that we will never amount to much if we didn't practice the truth, to be perfectly honest. And of coarse, remember when there was accountability for those lies. When a lie was exposed there were consequences. Spanking, restriction, jail, fines, destruction of credibility, a future in politics. Lying had it's pitfalls. But not now!

What turned this mores around to a point of acceptance? Could it be the first use of the term, half truth, when it should of been half lie? It made it so much easier, didn't it. Theres Himmler's mantra if you repeat a lie long enough it becomes the truth, Especially when your so called free press programs this mantra fulfilling the machinations of it's corporate masters! This is a component of capitalism without a conscience, and the whole world will be doomed if it's left alone running it's will.

Is there a way of turning this virus around? Yes there is, and it all starts at home. Your family, your community, your town, your state, our country, our world. Teach your children well, know the truth, above all practice the truth. And when you see the lie, that effects our well being, do what it takes. Throw your bodies onto the machinery and onto it's gears, until the machine is no longer able to function! (thank you Mario) Although that ball of dung has evolved into planet Bu$h*t, we can project it into another galaxy with our vigilance and hunger for freedom.
Be progressive, be active, dream of a better world, keep exposing the lie.
Study history, or the world is a mystery, read or bleed people, learn or burn.

By the way, that story about G. Washington who could not tell a lie. The truth is, that was a lie! I wouldn't lie to you. LOL!

3. In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
And it will be punished accordingly, by military assault.

6. MC 900ft Jesus
some time ago this group wrote and performed "Truth Is Out Of Style".
I have considered it as a replacement for our National Anthem.

7. Those who really tell the truth
usually pay for it with their lives.

Wish i could say there was a day when 'truth' WAS 'in style', but the longer i live, the less i believe in 'the good old days'-

And i'm not afraid of death anymore, so i'm reckless.

9. Postmodernist check-in, here
Maybe it's not that it's all "lies," -- maybe it's just that there is no truth.

That said, there is an amazing amount of contradiction between those things which we're "taught to do," and "those things we do," and that which "we know," and and what we do with that knowledge. These things are extraordinarily incongruent, and only seem to be getting worse. In that sense, I think we're truly becoming a postmodern society. The neoconservatives have effectively started the ball rolling on a post-modernity: taking the modern, twisting it backward, but still within a population, in which modern values, mores, technologies, etc., are still firmly lodged in the minds of the people.

For instance -- the "history's actors," quote from the Suskind article. There has never been so clear and accurate a phrase uttered, in our political discourse -- it was a look "behind the curtain," so to speak. You say, "but people don't sit around, outright PLANNING, the (fill in blank: new world order, enslavement of consumers, empire, patriarchy, oppression of the poor, etc.)".

Well, there are orchestrators -- and only, I think, in this time, in this place, are the orchestrators cognizant enough of the history that underlies their own designs, that they are able to fully "shift reality." I think the Nazis tried, but their inspirations were from modernity -- in other words, they believed they would really produce an Aryan race, or cleanse the world of Jews. The immediate project, in and of itself, was more important than the philsophy.

The inspiration for the neocons' actions comes partially from modernity, and partially from the failed philosophies of order -- a dangerous combination of authoritarianism, determinism and absolutism -- that is completely constructed, and is a construct of which the orchestrators are aware. And they're smart enough to know that they're literally creating new realities -- that's postmodern. In public, they insist they don't even exist -- and, if they do, they are staunch defenders of America and order (and freedom???) -- but they know that they first have a reality to undo -- before they can enact their own veneer.

I find it funny that the religious right -- the supposed defenders of the philosophies of order would align so closely with those who are postmodernist, and modernist. Perhaps some of the reason that you've noticed that we're awash in lies, is that, the right-wing is effectively using a left-wing argument to support their war, their right-wing supporters are eating up the democracy-spreading, just-society doctrine -- while peace advocates have adopted an isolationist, right-wing position, largely. Of course, each supports their side for different reasons -- the left for pacifism and reduction of harm -- and because they know the reasons are bullshit -- , and the right wing for the opportunity to conquer and creat authoritarian order -- but switched, philosophically, nonetheless.

At any rate -- you're right -- stuff is fucked up. But it's not because there's some "right" that the fucked-up-ness is guiding us away from -- it's just all "fucked up."

(Sorry this is so incoherent -- I'm not finding the right words, today -- or maybe I don't have enough words to elucidate this concept.)
