Medical Supplies needed at Camp Casey!!!
Anyone heading to Camp Casey please try to take some along. Anyone who can send some down, please do.

Water is also always needed.
Those going to Camp Casey are advised not to bring pets due to the heat.

Here is the information just in from Camp Casey 1

"The medical tent is in need of supplies - I just spoke to one of the medics and he gave me this list - anyone headed towards Camp Casey, please try to bring some of these things:

Insect Bite Remedies
Snake Bite kits (no one has been bit yet, but there are rattlesnakes out there)
Electrolyte Pills
Saline Solution
Medical Tape & Bandages
Wash Basins
Towels

They could also use something called 'D5W' and "Ringers... something or other" (phone garbled), but these are things a prescription is need for. If there is any way anyone can help with that...

A steady influx of people are arriving!"

1. Do they have physicians there
to order the IV fluids?

2. I was wondering the same thing
Cause if people are going to start sticking needles in each other out there administering drugs and IV fluids, there are at least a half dozen laws that will be broken, unless there is a doctor that is willing to put his license on the line.

3. Medical helpers
There are currently 2 medics and 2 RNs in the medical tent. A doctor would be handy!

That is at Camp Casey 1.

6. Unless they have a medical director (MD)
They can't be doing IV's unless they want to leave Crawford Peace House, Cindy Sheehan, etc up for a major lawsuit(unless the RN is a Nurse Practitioner).
I would strongly suggest that they check the Texas practice laws before doing anything like that.
They would be best to do minor stuff without doing anything invasive and call 911 for an ambulance if they need IV fluids, etc.
Just my honest opinion, FWIW.

7. Medics and RN's need a physician
with a Texas license to prescribe the IV fluids. Only a Medic can start a field IV. The medical personnel are placing their careers in serious jeopardy.

I realize the intent is sincere but I do feel the need to speak up in an effort to protect the volunteer medical staff. They need to acknowledge their limitations and work at a successful triage plan to meet the needs of the community. They need to have a transport plan in place. They can stabilize the victim first without the IV's and such.

10. UPdate: The van from Temple no longer needs a driver

Sorry for screaming. The CPH can rent the vans but they need folks to drive them down to the camp. They are trying to rent them from several locations. Anyone who wants to help, should PM me.

Any DUers from Texas who need a way to get to Crawford, can go in style. What a deal!

They can even deliver med. supplies. :)
