Who else finds the 'Allegiance to Bush' thing a little unsettling? |
|
"Thou shalt not bash Bush" seems to be a new Commandment that some RW'ers are pushing.
"We owe it to the President" - Legislators are talking about owing Bush, if anything, it is Bush who owes everyone else all the power he has.
"The world will rally behind Bush" (whenever there is a Terrorist attack, but when there's not, it is proof that Bush's thing formerly called the 'war on terror' is working)
Many people seem to be forsaking the pledge of allegiance they took every day when they were children, it seems as though Bush is the person that must have allegiance sworn to.
Frankly, I find it kind of scary.

They feel so good when someone else does the thinking for them. bush's base is merely along for the ride; they are certainly not in the decision making mode.

on the US or the world. This is the kind of unthinking obedience demanded by Mao, Pol Pot, Stalin and (dare I say it) Hitler. The system should be above one person.

of that car, at the anti-Camp Casey, I imagined all his zealous followers in the streets, sporting pictures of their dictator hero, and it shook me up, a little.

and, yes, it is kind of scary........
I think some of the loyalty and "rallying" behind Bush** is simply because of Democratic opposition. In other words Republicans would rather follow Bush** into hell rather than admit that Democrats are right!
I wonder how far Republicans will go in standing behind this a-hole? Would we, as Democrats, have already bailed out if Bush** were a Democratic President? I think so...we bailed on Johnson.
If I remember correctly, a bunch of us Dems were ready to "jump ship" on Clinton, UNTIL the Repubs ganged up on him and then it was a matter of defending him no matter what because we couldn't let the Repigs win.....I think something similar is going on now.

8. They did it with Nixon, too, during Vietnam. |

Wittingly or not, the Republicons have recently dusted off their Vietnam-vintage playbook and seem to be enthusiastically deploying a lot of its more disturbing strategies. The good news is, of course, that it all failed miserably to rally public support for what had become an obvious fiasco, based on an equally obvious misreading of regional politics. The bad news is that the country was bitterly divided then, intentionally, to a degree, by rightwing political opportunists, and a lot of those old wounds still haven't healed. This time around isn't going to be any easier, IMO.

difference's between repubs and Dems is the "hero worship factor". Democrats see people as humans and repubs see them as gods. Look at the hero worship with Reagan Limbaugh and now Bush. It is kind of sick.

18. This "loyalty" to shrubby drives me insane!!! |
|
I will never, never understand how people can be so loyal to this piece of shit who has done so much to damage our country.
This "man" has not done one positive thing for this country, doesn't give a shit about "joe average citizen", and yet people still see him as infallible.
Not only that, the guy never admits making mistakes!!!
