3. That sounds about right to me

There's always that hardcore third of the US population that consistently votes for the Republicans either because of their stance on economic issues or their stance on social issues. Many in the middle who vote Republican vote because they play so effectively with the social issues and make them forget the economic issues.

Not too many are willing enough to sign up and die or are willing enough to sign up their own sons and daughters to die in their place.
