Update from Crawford Protests;
Update from Crawford Protests;

Deborah Mathews reporting for The Iconoclast

1:45 p.m.

There are apparently three Cindy Sheehan supporters out here in the middle of the crowd. Their signs appear to have been torn up and they are being escored away by law enforcement personnel.

These people are serious out here.

Someone's yelling, "That's what they want to do, distract us."

People in the crowd roar at any given moment.

Melanie Morgan just screamed out, "This is not Vietnam." The crowd absolutely erupted.

The father of a boy in sniper training in Iraq said he spoke with his son on the phone who said, "Cindy Sheehan shut up. You're getting us killed."
"Cindy go home" is what the crowd is chanting now.

One sign says, "Cindy Sheehan, the bitch in the ditch."

1. Sick people
Cindy is not to blame for the deaths and destruction over there. And bitch in the ditch is just not right on so many levels.

6. The ones that bothered to go there are likely to be vile.
Cindy's side is driven by a desire for peace. The other side is down to "get the bitch!" Can you imagine having the bile against this one woman to bother going all the way out to Camp Goofball or whatever they're calling it now?

I hope our side stays totally non-violent, Gandhi style.

31. They seem to be nothing more than trouble makers
and violence becomes them.
Since they are bereft of ideas of their own, all they can do is leech off of democrats.
We must stay non-violent or they will win.

32. I think their getting killed has something to do with their being in Iraq
And if someone needs to "shut-up," it's that fat drug addict selling "Club Gitmo" t-shirts on the Armed Forces Radio Network.

If wasn't for their douchebag mentality, there wouldn't be a war in Iraq.

but since our side is not responding to his divisive tactics he's having a hard time getting it going.

It's hard to start a civil war when you can't ever get more then 20 freepers together at a time.

Sending in attack dogs, whether their numbers are in the tens or tens of thousands isn't an answer. They do not have the moral authority Cindy has.

14. 2:20 update
2:20 p.m.

Deena Burnett, wife Tom Burnett, Jr. who was on the plane that crashed into a field during 9/11, just spoke, saying, "We have a responsiblity to our troops. Our nation stands divided. This war is not about us. We fight for those who can't fight for themselves like my husband did.

"Our soldiers are doing what it takes to keep another Sept. 11 from happening anywhere in our world.

"Thankfully, our leaders didn't sway with public opinion and not fight. I stand in support of our troops," she continued. "Our troops are promoting a better quality of life for the people in Iraq. I commend them for that and I thank them for their service to America and the world."

The mother of Army CWO Eric Kesterson, said, "My husband and I are not here speaking out. We are speaking up."

A man is now being carried away via ambulance. He was conscious, but his condition is at this time unknown.

People are still coming in by droves. There are probably 3,000-4,000 people here now and still coming.

36. Just got off the phone with someone at Camp Casey 2
Renee Feltz, News Director of KPFT (Houston) is at Camp Casey 2 now. She came on one of the multiple busses arranged by people in Austin, Dallas, and Houston.

I asked her about the reports of 3000. She said that seemed high to her, but she thought there were more than 2000 supporters of Cindy.

(Camp Coordinator Ann Wright said yesterday she was expecting 1000 to 1500 supporters today, Saturday. Yesterday's Camp Casey 2 numbers were around 200 in the afternoon.)

She said busses are still arriving, and that each one gets a big round of applause from those already gathered.

She said it is an age-diverse crowd, with children and young people as well as middle-aged and older. The maps put up at the Crawford Peace House and Camp Casey 2 show that people have come from virtually every state in the Union.

But, today LOTS of people from Texas. Cindy said that she didn't expect such a good welcome from Texans, but she will be sorry to leave.

Renee said that entering the town of Crawford (a one-stoplight town, pop. 705) is a complete traffic jam. The pro-Bush supporters are out (they have a base at the souvenir shop at the corner of the two main streets), and lots of bikers. However, Renee's friend who was standing there, who is a biker, said, "they're not real bikers!" LOL

I think it was Beamer....my bad.

On edit - I googled it, and found a nifty "Let's Roll" B-1 Bomber-style wall clock.

"Let's Roll!" -- America's two-word marching order in the fight against terrorism -- is displayed on various aircraft throughout the Air Force as a way of recognizing the heroes and victims of the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States.

With the popularity of the Let's Roll emblem now appearing on Air Force aircraft, we are offering our commemorative "Let's Roll" B-1 Bomber Style Quartz Wall Clock. This is a 16"x16" 3 piece riveted panel slightly curved on .050" aircraft grade aluminum, resembling an access door panel from our modern day fighter jets. The dial consists of a 7" decal of the USAF Official "Lets Roll" nose art. The numbers are stenciled on the panel and for base coat paint, authentic Federal Standard (FS) camouflage is used for that realistic look.

21. ICONOCLAST says 200 altogether at Camp Casey 1 and Freeperville
1:30 p.m.
Michael Harvey reporting for the Iconoclast

At Camp Casey I, the Bush side is chanting "George Bush!" and the anti-war side is finishing their sentence by chanting "War criminal!"

The Bush side is loudly calling out, "Where is your anti-semitic leader?"

One pro-war sign says, "Cindy and Osama sitting in a tree." Another says "Who's paying you?"

A bunch of cars are passing by honking, as they have been constantly today.

Now the Bush side is yelling, "I'm for W."

There are close to 200 people out here now (both sides combined).

Music and barbecue is planned on the Camp Casey side this afternoon.

34. Here's the common denominator for these pro-Bush ralliers:
They keep linking Iraq to 9/11.

That would be about as stupid as undergoing chemo treatments for a head cold.

We got kicked in the groin on 9/11. Now, some people think we have to lash out. Somebody. Anybody. Even if they weren't the ones who kicked us.

Classical behavior of an insecure bully.

16. Let them show their true colors ...
... and all those images that (hopefully) make it to the news will )hopefully) nauseate TRUE patriots enough to take a closer look at Cindy's side of the story and start to demand answers and accountability from the Chimp in Chief.

They may alienate more 'Christian Patriots' than they energize with their disgusting and disrespectful 'patriotic' actions.
