Katrina just updated to Cat 4
according to the Weather Channel. I've been through hurricanes here in South Alabama with 100 mph winds, but I can't imagine 145-170 hitting a place like Nawlins.

1. If it's already reached Cat4...
... and it's got 30-36 hours more to build before landfall, it could hit Cat5. The problem for NO is storm surge. Bigger storm, bigger surge. If I were in NO, I'd be looking for the high ground right now.
