What happens to the poor who can't evacuate from Katrina? |
|
Have they activated the national guard to help those who don't have the means to evacuate?

3. I hate to defend Bush, but.. |
|
..if tens of thousands of people in New Orleans die, it won't be his fault. Even with a few more days of preparation, it has always been understood by people here that a direct hit by a hurricane of any magnitude would kill many. New Orleans is a city with many desperately poor residents, who cannot afford to go out of town.

Why isn't it a presidential responsibility to see that the poor are taken care of in national emergencies? It's not as if we don't pay big bucks into the federal government. If he can use it for the poor of other countries he can darn well use our money for own poor.

5. At least 30% do not own vehicles |
|
I watched a Red Cross spot on this. There are at least 100,000 who do not have vehicles and/or who can not pay for gas to leave the community.
They will have city busses stop to pick these people up to transport them to shelters of the last resort.

12. We will see how the U.S. treats its own poor |
|
I find it disgusting that our own inner city citizens can't afford a way out to save their lives. Let me hear again about how Christian the Bushbots are. Let's hear again how vital it is to give tax breaks to the elites.

to the poor areas, fill them with the poor and move them. There is plenty of time. That's what a president should do.
