"Tipping Point" on Iraq is a Media Con
Edited on Sun Aug-28-05 08:15 AM by Frederik
"Mainstream and alternative media are being extremely misleading with talk of a "tipping point" in U.S. support for Bush's policies in Iraq.

Tipping point?? Among those with strong opinions, almost two and a half times as many are against Bush policies, as for them!

The key development of the last three months is not the overall figures, but the collapse in support among strong backers of the Bush administration's Iraq policies."

...

" "Tipping point" is when things are finely balanced. Like say, 50 -50. Like say, an anti-war mother versus a pro-war mother. Whom do you back? 50 -50. That's the cunning spin.

But back in June those strongly opposed already outnumbered (strong) backers of Bush policies by 45% to 26%. Now they eclipse them by 46% to 20%, almost two and a half to one.

In truth, the tipping point is long, long past.

We now have a meltdown of core Bush support."

1. That could be worse

God knows what they might plunge us into if they think they have nothing (more) to lose politically.

3. It's a media tipping point.
The media is finally tipping. They are losing too much money because of the poor economy and the war.

They don't give a rat's ass what the people actually think, but if the people stop buying a newspaper or cable tv because they need a loaf of bread instead, the media will respond.

I believe that to be true. And it's incredibly sad and immoral.

5. only focucing on the poll numbers as a criteria for 'tipping point' is
wrong. other major developments need to be considered also.--certainly the war, the number of dead troops, the continued secrecy of the administation, the dsm, ect ect

4. Tipping Point is real.
It refers to the balance of power in this nation. The * Administration holds so much power that the tipping point therefore isn't fifty-fifty, but something on the order of 30-70. That's the point where the neothugs begin to lose control over the populace, and at which even the corporate media will have trouble claiming *'s rule is legitimate.

In a real democracy the tipping point would be fifty-fifty, or thirty-seventy the other way, but that's not what we're living in.

6. very true
Not one conservative republican I know is in favor of this war. Not one. I don't personally know any freepers. I think it is that 25% of bush's base that is left in favor.
