An hypothetical question about the possible disaster. |
|
Or five. First let me say I hope that somehow things do not go as bad as reports indicate they might and that those who can evac do and those who can't are safe and make it through unharmed.
We see a potential disaster looming for an American city, we see long lines of those who cannot evacuate trying to reach what all reports indicate is a very limited (for a city of this size and geography) amount of shelter. We see mass exodus on the highways and reports of massive back-ups (understandable imo). We also hear stories of gas station's closing, out of gas. We see no state or federal government effort to actually provide evacuation for those without the means. In short there are thousands of people who cannot get out of what may be an unprecedented, deadly, large scale catastrophe.
What if the situation were different in one way only: instead of a hurricane it was short notice intelligence reports of a nuclear device to go off in a major american city? Is this the best FEMA and H.S. can do under this administration? After 9-11?
I realize that mother nature does not always give adequate notice but are there no plans of action in place to make sure that it is possible to provide the logistics and personnel needed to protect our citizens? Why have a FEMA and H.S. at all if a disaster of this magnitude looms and all they are willing to do is step in after the fact and pick up the pieces? (which a lot of people will be grateful for in the coming weeks but an ounce of prevention...)

After the colossal ruin of something or other, the administrator is asked how it happened and replies: "I don't understand. We told them to evacuate and all they did was go sit in their cars and honk at each other." This is pretty typical, and pretty universal. things involving great numbers of people simply do not work very well, when all is said and done, and the quicker they need to work, the worse they will....

6. they don't really mind if a bunch of black Democratic voters die |

They put more Homeland Offense Gestapo stormtroopers on the street for relatively small WTO/FTAA/etc. protests than they have for the whole of New Orleans' impending hurricane disaster.
It's clear where their priorities are.

7. Hell, remember the power outage a couple years ago? |

You want to talk about a mess over something basic and stupid and not all that dangerous in and of itself... no way to get gas, money, food. It dawned on me then that if anything serious were to actually happen we're all on our own. This admin's only goal is to line their pockets and screw the average people/period.

bend over, grab your ankles and kiss your ass goodbye.
Because unless you have a 30 year supply of food and a 3 foot lead lined storm shelter and can get into it in time - you're dead or dying.
