There are 4500 in the Louisiana National Guard. How many can be deployed? |

1500. That's the number I heard. Only 1/3 are available.
And where are the rest? IRAQ.

That's what I heard on CNN, but the TV news is not always spot-on.
FEMA claimed that there were enough Guard personnel to handle the situation. I suppose that as New Orleans cleans up, we'll find out whether they were short-handed or not.

Guard people. Who would risk their job crossing the republican administration over some silly mater of a few people loosing their lives and property? Halliburton needs protection for their oil acquisitions in Iraq you know!
