FoxNews let's F-bomb go over the air. Please report them to the FCC. |
|
Not sure if this was already put up or not, it's from yesterday. http://movies.crooksandliars.com/f-bomb_on_foxnews_today.movIt'ss a legit question but Shepherd Smith cant say it without sounding like a deuche.

13. Yeah -- "Breakfast Club" on AMC over weekend was cut up completely |
|
I thought anything on "basic cable" still had to be "clean" -- only "pay cable" (like HBO, Showtime, etc.) can drop the "f-bomb" without getting into trouble.

16. AMC is a load of crap. They edit and chop up films. TCM shows films |
|
uncut and uncensored — and there have been a number of 70s and 80s films shown with the "f bomb" and all nudity intact. They do generally show them later in the evening, though.

They showed "Midnight Cowboy" once, without any bleeps (albeit starting at 10P).

20. I haven't watched AMC at all since they added commercials. |
|
They're a sad excuse for a film network (and they used to be very good). A shame, really.

14. It's mostly because of economics |
|
I guess most advertisers don't want swear words or nudity. FX seems to be doing OK with their TV-MA shows, though.

also get away with quite a bit of rather, err, "interesting" stuff.

26. But that's HBO, a premium cable channel as opposed to basic cable |
|
which leads me to believe they have even more leeway than basic does.
By the way, if any smarty-pants TV savvy DU'ers want to explain how all of this works (standards & practices on basic cable vs. premium, etc) or can point me to a good resource I'd love to learn more about it. Advanced thanks.

8. Fox News is a cable channel - they aren't bound by the rules of the FCC. |
|
Besides, even if it is Faux, I wouldn't want the FCC trying to exert it's influence even more in trying to limit what people can and cannot say.

And secondly, it seems like the last thing we need is more censorship by the GOP-controlled FCC.

30. Comedy Central has been breaking the status quo |
|
Although most of the time they do it Sunday at 1am (Sat night) It is called Secret Stash. They have movies or stand up shows completely uncensored. I have also seen the South Park episode with the word 'shit' every 5 seconds at 9 or 9:30pm.
It sucks but the US cable stations self censor to satisfy their advertisers.
