Every so often dolphins will gang up on members of other species (bottlenosed dolphins will often attach porpoises for some reason) and slaughter them. Gangs of adolescent male dolphins occasionally force unwilling females into sex. They aren't saints, either.

They are misapplying the statistic that there are more men than women at the extreme right tail of the bell curve to suggest that the fat part of the male bell curve is to the right of the fat part of the female bell curve. In other words, men outnumber women among people with very high IQs, but that does not mean that the average male IQ is higher than the average female IQ.

And the statement that men's (on average) larger brains make them (on average) smarter than women is just wrong. By that logic, the smartest creature on Earth is the sperm whale (whose brain masses six times that of a human). The truth is, intelligence seems to be related to the correlation of brain size to body size--and since men are (on average) larger than women, their (on average) larger brains don't give them any proportionate advantage.

Either the researchers are being misquoted to make a "sexier" article, or they're not very good.

a woefully weak record for Paul Irwing (I didn't bother with the other author).

Very few publications, none (that I know of) in the best psychology journals, though maybe DU psychologists can confirm this; very few citations by other scholars.

This suggests his work doesn't stand the harsh light of scientific scrutiny.

Any test can be prepared for. Or biased. I have always been skeptical of IQ tests because their results are considered so definitive and so final. They are not.

No offense to men or women, but intelligence is multifaceted and a single test with a single number can't really describe it.

Test taking is a skill that can be learned, like anything else.

I'll bet you if you tested for a different set of criteria, say....lateral thinking (not regularly tested for) vs spatial thinking (on every IQ test I've ever taken) then you might get different results. And that still would not account for other types of intelligence such as kinesthetic, linguistic, emotional intelligence and so on.

IQ test look for a very limited skill set and punish thinking outside the box (as I have learned)

My IQ hovers around 150 (yes, I'm female) and the discrepancies from one test to another are often accounted for by virtue of questions that could be answered in different ways and still be "correct", depending on whether you think visually, aurally or kinesthetically.

But if it makes him more secure in his masculinity to think so, I'm not threatened.
