I hope this drives his approval ratings to single digits.

20. Cops said 2,000 anti-war protesters were at the vigil!
Which means more like 2,500, since police always underestimate.

I'll have pics to post tomorrow. It was awesome!

12. I know pretty place, very nice .....
not knocking the Hotel, just the President. There is no emergency, disaster big enough, humanitarian or otherwise to deter his apple cart. Like his pro war activists were chanting in Crawford a week ago "We don't care" .... he has this attitude of 'whatever, life goes on' and I find that pathetic. Peace. :)

and spending the other ninety trying to get seniors to give dough to his Wall Street friends: then he plays Marilyn Monroe at the evening in the degenerate urban West Coast
Is he on vacation, or just slumming in his "job"

I am interested to see someone else is wondering about Laura. Surely there is something very wrong with her. Perhaps she really has had surgical "enhancements" to her brain. Nothing would surprise me.

23. It's just goddamned inappropriate and unseemly for
the moron to be relaxing at a posh seaside resort while those on the Gulf Coast are suffering through a terrible ordeal. What's unbelievable is that apparently none of his handlers recognize that fundraising and visiting the Coronado military base for a photo op isn't the best possible use of his time right now - especially since he's already been "on vacation" for an entire month. The arrogance and stupidity is truly beyond the pale.

25. Who Wants Him There Anyway?
I know we all look to our fearless leader for fearless leadership when scary things happen...but what could he do right now anyway? His presence there would just make things worse...my opinion, of course. The people who live on the coast know that hurricanes come regularly and the continue to choose to live there. Last I saw...there were people being interviewed who were saying, why evacuate for a storm that may never come?

I'm thinking specifically about GulfPort...My brother and his wife live there...and evacuated to her place of business in GulfPort. She is a physician and I suppose she will be involved with all of the medical problems this disaster will cause.

She and my brother are staunch republicans, Bush supporters and ex-military people. They live a very high life-style...and they have lots of friends who are also there enjoying the good life. Her business there is all about the rich and famous... I gather from them that there are a whole lot of folks just like them who perhaps need to experience first hand what it is to just loose everything.

Ultimately, they probably will just do very well with insurance and tax sheltering... but MAYBE they will get close enough to real human suffering that inspires NO REAL RESPONSE from the uncaring, inhumane administration they voted into place to see what some of the others of us are talking about.

Everything happens for a reason.... These guys, the shrub folks, are all giving us a very strong dose of what it is we don't want. When the dosage gets high enough...I believe it will catalyze deep and lasting change. We need to keep pushing...

Perhaps we could use the photos we are seeing of the damage and devastation as visuals for how we would like to see the bush administration......no structure left standing....

Somebody please stop me, I feel a rant coming on!

Peace

28. I commend your post ...... everything except .....
the first paragraph. ...."but what could he do right now anyway?" ..... well he could mobilize what Military we have left in this Country to get down to the catastrophe and save some lives for one thing. He's the fricking President of the USA for God's sake. "His presence there would just make things worse..." Nobody's asking him to personally go down there. We're asking him to act Presidential (DO SOMETHING) when fellow American Citizens are fighting for their lives by the moment. "The people who live on the coast know that hurricanes come regularly and the continue to choose to live there." .... What does that have to do with anything NOW? This type of argument perturbs me more than anything. Oh well someone walked out into the street and got hit by a car, why should I help them? It's their fault. :wtf: kinda compassion is in that? The rest of your argument makes some sense in the fact that "Unless something directly affects Republicans personally, they don't give a shit" How true a statement that is turning out to be. Peace.

27. I remember when Conyers cancelled his appearance here in San Diego...
Edited on Tue Aug-30-05 09:39 AM by calipendence
I was unhappy not being able to see him then, but I was happier that he had a good sense of priorities to tend to other more pressing business where he was needed. Now THERE's a man with a sense of priorities!

Why can't Bush's sheeple understand the same thing. Why can't Bush feel like they should be able to understand the same thing! That bum should be doing his f'in' job, not preaching to his choir out here! Gawd it will take a long time to get the world to respect us again!

If we expect an ounce of aid from any other country to help us with this disaster, shouldn't we at least be showing that we've got primary concerns about it ourselves? This will buy you a lot of support Dubya! Still remember when he was slow responding to the tsunami aid efforts too! That jerkoff's on a different planet!
