Edited on Tue Aug-30-05 01:51 AM by jsamuel
This number based on CNN report at 2am.

Why is it that it shook the very core of our country when 3,000 people died in 9/11, but no one even notices the thousands of people SCREAMING for our help RIGHT NOW?!

On Edit: I don't mean "no one", rather the MSM and *. Plus, sorry if my thoughts are so jumbled since I am very concerned and it is very late. I also just found out that the levee at lake P. just breached by 2 blocks.

1. To be fair. He said casualties. Also 3000 died 9/11.
But I think he was implying deaths.

6. i think the number is under some amount of dispute due to those who have
died since 9/11 for the clean up side effects.

10. No it's not.
It might be in dispute in your head. The official number is very close to 3000 (2992 from wikipedia).

11. I saw a number that said around 3800, ok? Sorry if my "head" is a problem
for you.

You know that is aweful rude of you to say that when I am trying to point out a problem. I already had changed it to 3000...

12. Source your number.
You have made two very hyperbolic statements. 1000-2000 dead. He didn't say that. 4000 dead from 9/11. You know that's not true.

I already sourced 1000-2000 to CNN. Casualties vs Deaths? Why are you nit picking those two words?

I already told you that I saw a 3800 number and I cannot remember where I saw it. I am sure I was MISTAKEN! It was a acident. Why do you accuse me of lieing? Why are you attacking me?!

PLUS I ALREADY CHANGED IT! WTF DO YOU WANT FROM ME?

15. I understand that everyone is tense now.
I even agree with your interpretation of what he said on CNN. You made 2 exaggerations during a sensitive time. But if you are going to claim 3800 died on 9/11, you should be able to back it up. It's not unreasonable.

16. the 3800 was a simple mistake, I saw that number somewhere and I simply
remembered it wrong. That is all. Just a blip in the radar of my brain. Not intentional whatsoever. The number of 1,000-2,000 is based on a reporter for CNN who is down in NO with all the flooding.

Yes, everyone is tense, but I feel like * should be doing something instead of eating cake.

4. That sounds like some number they tossed right out of their ass
There's no way, you can get a casualty estimate, in the middle of the night, with people still yet to be rescued and whole parts of the are inaccessible.

19. yeah, it is a number that a CNN reporter on the ground in NO threw out
so it isn't the gospel by any means, but it is the first estimate I have heard from anyone who is actually there.

Edited on Tue Aug-30-05 01:10 AM by jsamuel
he seems to not even know the hurricane has even hit yet.

He should be ordering help right now. He should be talking about it on national TV. He should be urging private citizens to volunteer to help out. He is eating cake instead...

14. Well, you said "no one" notices in your original post.....
...and I'm sure there are many who do, I think everyone in America tonight. Sadly, with all the devestation, I don't think it's that easy no matter how much manpower there is.....

Dumbya can't do shit. He's an ineffectual and impotent leader when put on the spot, a lazy idiot who simply parrots whatever his handlers tell him, and only after he's had it drilled in his booze-riddled skull. Look at how he ran and hid after 9/11. He'll show up down there in a few days after he's been programmed by KKKarl, make some vapid speech written by that beast Karen Hughes, and the SCLM will be back fellating his latest scheme to defraud America by the weekend.

17. your right, sorry, it is late and apparently I am not thinking very well
I am just really upset and concerned for them. I feel like people in the MSM wrote this off as a 25 death day this morning. They said stuff like "overall a great day". I am just spouting my concern and it is coming out as a jumbled mess. Sorry.

.....there will be more than 25, but less than what they were painting it would be yesterday. That's just the media for you.

23. You have every right to be upset
From what I can tell, you are talking about the MSM, and the lack of caring and concern shown by Bush and other politicians. Sometimes, extreme worry can lead to tempers pushed to a breaking point, and otherwise friendly people's temper flaring up. Frustration and worry can cause a lot of hurt feelings.

You are obviously concerned, and I take you at your word. If what you posted came out as a jumbled mess...your words...it is completely understandable. All we can do now is to hope and pray for the people affected by this hurricane, and do what we can to help them pick up the broken pieces of their lives. Some will not live through this, and all we can do for them is to help their loved ones cope with their grief.

Peace to all...this is a time to come together, and do what we can for the beautiful city of New Orleans, and all the other towns and cities ravaged by this storm.

20. I care and so do others here on DU and elsewhere.
However, I am sickened, disgusted and infuriated that people on other threads are talking about looting as if that's more important than people dying, or losing everything in the hurricane and ending up homeless! To me, the looting is irrelevant in the face of death!!!! Yet the harping and the assine comments continue and are so freeperish I could scream!

What the fuck is wrong with these assholes?!!!!!! :banghead:
