He would get out there with his little bull horn. Besides all the security it would take, those people are needed elsewhere to take care of the stricken.
Stay away bu$h, they don't need you in New Orleans or Mississippi

Bush will get criticized here as an opportunist if he goes to the disaster scenes, and callous if he doesn't. I can't stand him either, but let's be honest here.
That said, the shortage of National Guard troops will be a very, very big story if this situation continues to worsen, and you can bet the state and local politicians will be all over it.

his dad. I remember Poppy out tooling around on his cigarette boat during Desert Storm (and the Brat was with him, making mean faces at any reporter who dared question the propriety of his pop's vacation time).

8. even his current rhetoric per Iraq is familiar |

ala "Stay the Course." Heck I read it referred to that way, though I can't imagine he uses those words himself, given how often that line was parodied on SNL. But the theme is the so much the same that others (reporters, columnists, even those on his side) insert it.

6. have to try to raise those opinion polls.... |

with staged events - can't let a natural disaster get in my way.
Of course my strategists are getting so feeble they can't fathom how this might make me look even more out of touch and less compassionate - heck the disaster is in "safe" areas - they still love "me" back there - so no need to expend energy on that.

The same compassion that left thousands stranded for safety.
