First come the winds, then come the floods...
...then come the displaced predators, such as poisonous snakes and alligators, assuming the toxic goo from the flooding doesn't kill them off. Then comes the disease.

It's not over in the gulf folks. Not by a long shot.

4. Fire ants too
In areas of severe flooding, fire ants may even form a ball or raft and float in the water until they find 'dry land', such as a tree limb or some object or human body. These ants can pose problems during rescue efforts and other activities in flooded areas.
