CNN just reported that one guy just killed himself inside the SuperDome.
Jumped to his death intentionally.

People are hot, the toilets are overflowing, no way for them to get in touch with relatives, and there is chest-high water surrounding the Dome.

Rescuers are bringing the sick and injured to the Dome, even though conditions there are terrible.

Where the hell is the large scale AID? This is scary.

9. This is what it would be like if we had a large scale terrorist attack.
Un-freaking-prepared to deal with it.

Where's all that Homeland Security money, time and effort gone? Oh, I forget, Bush just pays LIP SERVICE and nothing more to dometic preparedness.

Talk about giving aid and comfort to our enemies--this ought to make them feel sure that we don't have our shit together in the least.

*so mad and upset*

What, you think the government should be doing disaster relief? What are you, some kind of commie?

31. No money=no help
It's a good thing our leaders are such devout Christians or this country would really be in trouble.

:sarcasm:

19. Killing the messenger I see. Can't let them report the truth because
it will make them look like the uncaring, incompetent drones that they are turning out to be? How much more panic can there be than there already is?

26. Unfortunately, TV Nation America assumes that everything will
be taken care of immediately. This is the USA! We're #1!! Most Americans think the disaster happens one day and things are fixed the next day.

Last night they were saying areas will be without electricity for a month or two. I expect the freepers to say "yeah, but we're SO much better than Iraq where they still don't have electricity two years after they asked us to invade!"

It might help if the media explained the dire situation now, rather than waiting til next week when Team USA will have returned to worrying about Britney, Tom and Angelina.

Don't count on it. In today's MSM, any truth in reporting gets "balanced" against what will best promote asshole and his cabal.

14. You can't get help if you can't get through the streets.
I'm sure relief will make it, but you can't expect things to instantly improve with the flip of a switch.

The National Guard is depleted, the streets are flooded, and conditions are dangerous. I mean, I'll blame Bush for a lot (like, for instance, sending the National Guard to Iraq in the first place) but there's only so much you can do right now.

I hope that those stranded in the Superdome can find someway to keep their minds off of the tragedy - they've been through so much!

PORTA POTTIES, PERSONAL HYGIENE PRODUCTS, just as soon as the storm was over. They should've been STANDING BY with this.

They *KNEW* tens of thousands of people would be stuck at the Dome and without a home anymore.

SOME do search and rescue and SOME are supposed take care of the ones stuck in shelters and others already rescued!

22. Exactly! This storm didn't just sneak up on them ...
They had some time to prepare and come up with a plan. I know that they couldn't possibly anticipate every need and situation, but these people aren't getting ANY help! Maybe if they didn't ship the Gulf Coast region National Guard troops over to Iraq ... :grr:

17. "The National Guard is depleted." Yup.
So much for protecting the homeland. While George screamed monsters under the bed (and in the closet), the real killer of Americans was set free to destroy our very streets and all the people on them.

No global warming? Want to study it some more, George?

If the death toll beats the WTC, will we finally look at our priorities?

on CNN.

People desperate for a clean place to use the bathroom, get in touch with relatives, get clean.

24. they're making it out like
tehy have enough National Guard to deploy... but frankly... when you've got at least 100,000 stuck, its NOW not later that they have to be rescued... I don't think its healthy to be bunkered up in the Superdome. Or in some house thats rotting away.... with who knows what floating and polluting the water.
