I'm frankly disappointed in both sides of this issue and those who are wasting their time debating the finer points of looting morals.

Are you upset about the looting? Then friggin' get off the keyboard and DO SOMETHING about it!!! Donate money, volunteer your time at your local Red Cross to man phones. Organize food drives. Donate blood Get involved. There are hundreds of ways.

Are you upset about the people upset about looting? THE SAME APPLIES TO YOU! As you keep arguing desparate people do desparate things. SO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE DESPARATION AND QUIT ARGUING ABOUT THE "LOGIC" OF IT!

I haven't been on the board a whole lot, because I've been busy doing what I can given my financial limitations.

PLEASE stop this stupid infighting and START HELPING!!!

I hope you didn't open this page to read what we already know: that this is the most rightwing government we have ever had in the US, even far right of Bush I, that our rights are being eroded daily, and that our democratic process is all but gone, if it isn't already gone.

I hope you came here to read about tactics for action that will finally have some consequence. I hope you agree that our protests, petitions, letters, and on and on, have been utterly ignored. The fascistas that run our country laugh at us. They believe they can do anything and that we haven't got the guts to revolt, but only to wage a war of words. I have seen the Bush cavalcades, as they drive away, his aids sneering and jeering and laughing and mocking our protests. They think we are a JOKE. Tens of millions of Americans protested the war, but because we posed no REAL THREAT to their power, we were UTTERLY IGNORED.

As long as we pose no REAL threat to the powers-that-be, to what is shaping up into a dictatorship, we will continue to be ignored. Right now, we are ignored because we present no organized power to fight this onslaught of anti-democratic, totalitarian government that we are up against.

It will take time, but it's time to get more left-leaning liberals and outright leftists to at least POSE a threat, by getting organized and getting ARMED. It's time to get well past this liberal phobia and taboo about weapons and force. After all, our liberalism was won with a REVOLUTIONARY WAR! they used real guns in that war. The French Revolution was also a WAR and they used real weapons there too.

I think a bunch of people sitting comfy in their homes..asses firmly pressed against computer chairs and eyes glued to the TV criticizing disaster victims for taking essentials such as food and water is about a "Marie Antoinette" as one can get.

and donating BLOOD & MONEY doesn't take much time... but addressing the MANY evils masquerading as policy in our current gov does AND having a place like DU to discuss these, often IGNORED, evil policies is PRICELESS and what makes DU great, not to mention, very HELPFUL at spreading the word, which is always, not only important but CRITICAL, in our neoCON nation, that STILL doesn't have PAPER TRAILS but we do got here and another reason that makes us GREAT (leaps & bounds above the M$MWs at least ;->

18. I think all of us already have, but I'll be damned if I'll shut up

when victims are being trashed whether it's poor African Americans trying to survive a disaster, or poor Mexicans trying to cross our border for a better life. I hope the morality police find themselves in these situations one of these days and I wonder how fast they drop the self-righteous bullshit.
