OK. Handle two dozen visits to all corners of the country, including every request for radio, TV and print media interviews, plus accomodations and logistics for travel. Yourself. That's what publicists do. If she didn't have one, she'd have no time for anything else but making plans.

Camp Casey has been an enormously successful event and this is partly because (for once!) the left was organized and had publicists to help coordinate media access, etc.

No way could Cindy have handled the media on her own. I was there. It was amazing how many reporters, etc were there. And this was a week before Camp Casey II opened. I can't even imagine how huge it got after I left.

One important thing I noticed is that the organizers/folks in charge were very strict about who they allowed to put up tents in the ditch with Cindy. I overheard a fascinating conversation where a group was being told that this was an anti-war rally and they were welcome to distribute their literature, but if they didn't stay 'on message' they would be asked to leave.

Physicians for Social Responsibility set up there, not sure who else, but those other socially responsible groups had to go there. Camp Casey 1 had to remain about accountability and the Iraq occupation. So what if there were people to help? I don't understand why some people think this is bad. There were lots and lots of us individuals there and involved all over, and so what if there were some groups backing this movement and people helping? We work together, helping, supporting each other generously. bah to the negative naysayers who are seeking to undermine all this.

Finally, we have a spokesperson who can capture the attention of the media and disrupt the WH's spin control.

One who focused attention on the horrific quagmire that is Iraq.

One who was willing to put her grief front and center and endure the hateful BS the RW was spewing...

And what do we do, when she takes all the risks inherent in a public stand against the bfee?

We nitpick and complain and criticize her for not doing it to our personal perfectionist standards.

She said it was ruining Cindy's message. I never quite understood what we should be saying instead of "now".

Anyway, thankfully, Cindy is someone that is speaking from her heart and using her head.

I believe she jump started a dialogue that needed to be accelerated.

Good for her, and too bad how quickly some folks here jumped on the criticism bandwagon.

My goodness, if the repubs can line up in support of gwb, rushie, o'liely and others, why can't we stand behind someone as genuine as Cindy? MKJ
