I think the rest of the country will be taking in refugees from Katrina
It will be similar to what happened after the genocide in Bosnia and Kosovo. I, for one, will open my house. This tragedy is so monstrous, and as usual the poor, disabled, and and elderly suffer the most grievously. Please God, help these people.

8. They are moving them to shelters that are set
up throughout nearby areas -- they are all being taking care of with everyone pitching in to help & donating supplies. In the Beaumont, Pt. Arthur, and Orange area (Texas), they have taken in several thousand people so far apparently with room for more in area churches, etc. The problem is getting them out of New Orleans right now. :(

5. To the best of our abilities, we have to help both people and animals.
I cannot believe the trauma that is taking place right before our eyes.

7. It's a true nightmare, isn't it??

Have we ever experienced anything like this before?

The people from New Orleans are about to become like the Dust Bowl Refugees of the 30s. Kind of ironic, huh?

4. I work in human services and
I see what comes to us from less fortunate areas. It is very difficult to deal with.I hope we can cope with the people who are coming.

6. We can. Our government sucks, but humanity is alive and well
in America, and we will not desert our neighbors.
