Gov Blanco says Airlines deserted them |

They could of been flying passenger out on Sunday, but they chose not to because nobody was filling seats going into New Orleans.

1. Some thanks for bailing them out after 9-11. |

They should have been required to fly in and take out people. We could have paid for the trips. How fucking far did they have to fly? I mean they can get to Houston, Baton Rouge, Atlanta, Birmingham and many places in Florida very quickly. Goddamn fucking disaster.

So Americans can be more free... to drown?
Not attacking you, but your post just triggered my intense rage against the absurdity of sending so many National Guard troops and so much money to allegedly make Americans more safe at home.

5. Yep, they shut down the airport |
|
very early in the afternoon. They stranded 1000's of travelers who could not even find rental cars to get out of the area. Nice folks, not.
There was also a report of a cruise ship that went into NO and dumped all the passengers without anything. Tough luck, you're on your own.

9. oh good lord are you serious? |

I posted this on Sunday but on 9/11 the NJ Transit conductors came out of the WTC and across the river after the Towers were hit, then they TURNED AROUND and made an empty run back to the WTC and picked up the people who had FLED to thet platform below the WTC and SAVED THEM ALL with only minutes to spare.
If we had LEADERSHIP in this country those planes would have been ORDERED to get those people out. I just heard a guy on Larry King calling in from NO saying he was in a hotel but no food it's dark etc. Their flight was cancelled, could not rent a car, tried to get a ride from people in the hotel & could not get one so they had to stay.
Will anyone be held accountable for this?

Can't a president demand that airlines fly in to evacuate people in cases of emergency?
A little off topic, but... couldn't the president freeze gas prices before evacuation to encourage people to leave?
Anyone know?

13. This thing is spiraling out of control |

I am hearing more and more point-blank assesments from the Governor and the Mayor. They are telling people like it is without sugar coating it. Earlier, the Mayor said that the sandbags never came to plug the levee and that he was trying to reach the White House.
There are going to be a lot of people pissed (including myself) that will unite under one banner, not divided by Democrat or Republican, black or white. They will expose the great tragedy and criminal behavior of this administration relating to this disaster.

16. Bush's head will roll |
|
This is a 'cock up' that will haunt this administration. This is a natural disaster. Can you imagine what would happen in a major terrorist attack? It is obvious that this country's response to disaster is sorely lacking and is the fault of it's leader. If Bush hadn't been prancing around invading Iraq he would have got our response teams in order to cope with something of this magnitude. It is sickening seeing all those poor people suffering.
