"Good morning America, how are you?

Don't you know me, I'm your native son. I'm the train they call the city of New Orleans. I'll be gone 500 miles when the day is done."

(words and music by Steve Goodman, originally recorded by John Denver)

And, this from Biloxi:

3. Maybe so...
I only remember Denver singing it. Guthrie was probably first. That video will tear your guts out.

6. It was Arlo's hit..
but kudos for getting the Steve Goodman part right, most people assume Arlo wrote it too.

I cried my eyes out for that poor man. We can pretty much get the picture here, can't we? The poor, and mostly black poor, were left without any help to get out. I will be haunted by that poor man's tears all night.

And that video...
I cry every time I see it. I've passed it on to every one I know.

4. And, a news "reporter" on Faux had the
nerve to say, something to the effect of "Well, frankly, we was warned to evacuate." Cold-hearted jerk.

5. I'm going before the upcoming "holiday" weekend...
to give blood. Labor Day is always the weekend with the most demand for it. Going to be even worse now.
