I'm trying to see to it that B*sh CHOKES on that cake! (politically)
In case anyone missed it, Da Blivet spent part of Monday
at a birthday party for John McCain.

While millions of Americans braced for one of the worst natural
disasters in our nation's history,
our Clueless Leader showed us that yummy frosting
is a higher priority than PRETENDING TO CARE:

Since I thought this was the biggest "fuck you"
he's given to the American People in a few days,
I decided to MEMORIALIZE it.

Feel free to steal these; please send them to anyone you like.
And please don't give me credit.
I sign them as I do for a REASON.

1. That's powerful stuff.
Those graphic images juxtaposed say so much about how far removed this man is from those he pretends to lead. Someone must have given him a clue about what was unfolding on the Gulf Coast and yet that look on his face says he could not care any more about this disaster than the ones he has created all by himself.

9. D'oh! So very sorry SwampRat! If I had half a brain....
...I would have PMed you with a warning to AVOID this thread.

But I don't,
and I didn't.
Sincere apologies.

These were SUPPOSED to hurt.
Not YOU and the rest of DU, of course...
Y'all already know the truth.

I needed this to make an EMOTIONAL impact;
to create the VISUAL equivalent of a kick in the balls,
painful enough to snap a few folks out of their COMAS.

I'm sorry it kicked you as well.

10. I wish it was on CNN also....
But at this point, I'm gonna be realistic and hope for
a brief mention on the History Channel, in the year 2030 or so.

There was a time when Political Caricature
was an underground art-form...
Produced anonymously for the eyes of the powerless "unwashed masses",
considered "beneath notice" by the corrupt elite.

But now, some of those early "cartoons" are cultural ICONS,
and no news-sheet is a "real" NEWSPAPER unless it carries
a regular "political cartoon" on its Editorial page.
And "PhotoShopping" is going to follow that same curve.

It's already MUCH bigger than most of us realize!
If you do a Google Image search for "bush",
9 of the first 20 results are pics made on a computer.

And PhotoShopping has a UNIQUE inherent STRENGTH,
above and beyond hand-drawn caricature:
It can use REAL images.
It can juxtapose COMPLETELY REAL events in significant ways,
as my "got cake?" series does.(I hope)

Someday, when all NEWS is delivered via the internets,
every respected news source will feature political PhotoShops.
And perhaps I will get a footnote in history;
some sort of "Early Pioneer Honorable Mention".

Perhaps.

I would be much happier if my work someday motivates
one single person to think twice about their KoolAid consumption.

Chomping on birthday cake (and posing with a guitar) during the worst days of America's history! During a true crisis on our land.

Funny how after all this time we are still surprised and appalled by this man. It shows your humanity and his lack of it, dicksteele.

22. "Lucky me, I won the trifecta!"
"I remember when I was campaigning, I said, would you ever deficit spend? And I said, yes, only if there were a time of war, or recession, or a national emergency."

So let's eat cake, I won the trifecta!

25. Can you put the date on them?
and maybe a sentence of explanation? "Aug. 30, 2005. Pres. Bush attends Senator John McCain's birthday party." I want to put them on flyers. Although I guess I can put the words *around* the image. That might work better.

Thank you so much. I am absolutely enraged. I plan to print this out and take it everywhere I go and put it on cars.

26. Request - I think it would look so much better if you would do it.
Could you do a graphic big enough to print 8 1/2 x 11? And somewhere on it please put these two things:

Aug. 30, 2005. Pres. Bush attends Senator John McCain's birthday party while New Orleans floods.

"It appears that the money has been moved in the president's budget to handle homeland security and the war in Iraq, and I suppose that's the price we pay. Nobody locally is happy that the levees can't be finished, and we are doing everything we can to make the case that this is a security issue for us."
-- Walter Maestri, emergency management chief for Jefferson Parish, Louisiana; New Orleans Times-Picayune, June 8, 2004

I think that's all. It should be enough. I want to make sure that everyone knows who is responsible for this.

JPEG quality is not great; had to get it below 250k for PhotoBucket.

PM me back if you need a better copy, I can send you original via eMail.
