Former mayor of NO on CNN (w/Soledad) |
|
Anyone else watching this? He is adamant that if * doesn't send the military in RIGHT NOW, the 80,000 people trapped in the city will be lost.
Soledad is weakly defending *, "What else can he do? Isn't the Army coming?" blah blah blah. Meanwhile Bartholomew is pleading, stressing that this is an urgent need, and whatever * is doing is NOT ENOUGH.

2. Indeed. But her reaction was weird. |
|
Her knee-jerk reaction seemed to be to defend Bush. Gawd.

6. But she has a BIG problem |
|
If a massive lost of life happens because of lack of resources the military COULD have provide, the exMayor's statements will kill Bush.

3. I'm actually shocked at just how bad and slow the response has |
|
been to this disaster.
Haven't they made emergency plans for if a terrorist attack occurred in a major city? The impact is similar. Why can't they do anything?
They still shock me with their incompetence. I didn't think they could deal with the aftermath to the Iraq invasion so incompetently and I'm feeling the same way now re Katrina aftermath in NO.
I guess "dismay" would be an accurate description.

4. He closed with: "The President has to focus on this NOW!!! NOW!!!" |
|
It was adesperate plea. Soledad looked stricken after that, as if the full brunt of Bush's dereliction of duty had begun to dawn on her. I mean, this asshole was strumming a guitar yesterday while Americans were drowning in their homes. He is beyond the pale.

7. He was pissed and did a great job except |
|
solie asked him why no plan for NO. IT would have been great if he had pointed out how HS sucked all of the Army Corps money away. MILLIONs of it.

until Friday....we need help now, Mr.President. Please send the Military, please send help. We can't wait another minute.
WE NEED HELP NOW !"
(from memory, but close)
The message to the president was, waiting until Friday to survey the damage and determine what needs to be done will be too late.
He should have already sent Military and help. Since he hasn't, please do it NOW.....
(An incredibly heartbreaking plea for help to our awol president and deaf government.)
