3. No.
We still don't have a damn thing on him and it would get us absolutely no where. I'd vote no on him, but a filibuster is flat out ill-advised at this point.

6. The Filegate on Roberts would do it for me
I can understand why people would say no, but I agree with the people who think this qualifies as one of those 'special circumstances' that calls for a filibuster.

15. It's not our call on what a "special circumstance" is
Unfortunately, we don't hold that card. We never have. And I can guarantee you that at least 2 of the 7 Republicans in the Gang of 14 will not agree that it's a special circumstance.

Not to mention that the public as a whole does not seem to have much acrimony over this nomination. So that even destroys a pyrric victory.

Simply put, it makes no political sense to filibuster this. I say get to the vote as soon as possible and move the spotlight and the single minded American public's focus on things like Plamegate, the oil crisis, and the failing Iraq war. The point is not that our Senators can't focus on more than one thing at a time - it's the rest of our country that's the problem.

5. No.
Folks who would are being sand bagged. The big fight is the next nominee. They put up a guy who they can portray as "likeable" and then when we go after the real demagogue they will have immunized the American public (which is the real court of opinion that we have to sway).

Make sure that we demonstrate our differences with Roberts in the hearings but the smart move is to keep powder dry for the real fight.

8. Only if there is a real groundswell during the hearings.

And my constituency wants him stopped.

Other than that, no, because the next guy wont be any better. I would vote no and make a big public stink about it.

9. If I were a democratic senator, I'd fillibuster Repubs bathroom breaks.
Fuck them. Remember who got America into this mess, and look at their polling numbers. WE ARE AMERICA, not the republicans in Washington selling off our defenses, our national parks, selling out our youth and our grandparents, sucking at the big corporate teat.

The chickens have come home to roost. It is time to send the message real America is screaming right now...ENOUGH IS ENOUGH you nutbag extremists! No more Robertses, not more Gonzalezes, we want some sanity back, and we don't want to spend the rest of our natural lives looking back at the good old days before Bush fucked up everything we hold dear.

Fillibuster. Shout it out. Read books the righties want banned. Show F9/11 on the Senate floor. Anything. Just don't give that motherfucking liar-in-chief one more thing. Nothing. Nada. He's had his fun, and the rest of us will be paying for it well past our graves.

12. Dems are seen as being too wimpy, Their polls should be going up
as brush's and repukes go down, but they are not. Why? because they are seen as being pushovers. Now filibustering Roberts would at least give the appearance of having a backbone.
